Temperamental fridge with too many flaws for the price
BG in Chicago, Amazon
13 May 2012
Summary: I have had this fridge for about four years (the same family of appliances, E522B), and the verdict is that its looks, efficient use of space and small footprint (which is a must if you have limited space) are almost outweighed by flaws that are unforgivable for this price range. First, the PROs: Small footprint Great looks, clean, classy, angular Efficient use of space Lots of nifty features and nice touches you'd expect for the price Acceptably energy-efficient BUT...
Summary: I purchased this fridge out of a need to get one that was counter depth and also few inches narrower than 36". I purchased it without seeing the actual product (something I never do). I was amazed when it was delivered. It has a level of design equal to a viking or sub-zero. It is a little smaller than other fridges, but the design clearly makes up for it. The shelves are great as are the accessories. The water dispenser is slick and delivers perfectly chilled water.
Summary: My 29 yr old top freezer whirlpool finallly died. Was looking for a while because I wanted a newer style fridge(bottom freezer type) and none of them would fit in my space except this one. Everyone who sees it loves it! All of the shelves can be adjusted, controls are very simple. Its European so its a little different and has features that other fridges don't have.
Summary: Don't let the size fool you, this refrigerator is much more usable than refrigerators much larger. The bottom freezer placement is perfect since you spend most of your time in the refrigerator, and everything here is at eye level. Freezer drawers help minimize cold air loss and are very convenient. Downside, door shelves can't hold a gallon jug, but that's about it.
Summary: I hesitated to buy this refrigerator because online reviews are so mixed. But so far, I like it a lot. It cools and defrosts in an unusual way -- apparently lots of small fans all around the sides. So it can be alarming when you feel the side heat up and see the inside temp going up to 40 degrees F. But the techs at their customer service number said that's normal and that the temp would quickly return to the cooler setting, and it does.
Summary: We gutted our kitchen two years ago. Space was a premium - this was the only size that fit our space. It looks great. It is east to see what is on the glass shelves. The ice maker works great... it has all the bells and whistles. We love it... the only negative - it makes some knocks and thumps - sounds from time to time. We would buy it all over again.
Summary: If your space is 33 wide, and you want counter depth, this is your choice. Great refrigerator, but NOT big. Love how easily the produce boxes remove from refrigerator for cleaning/loading. A great design. Even the water dispenser - super thin and low profile, but no drips and great functionality.
Summary: I've had mine a 1.5 years, and it's been a real champ. Highly energy efficient, easy to clean inside and out (WD 40 on the outside works great!), sturdy and attractive. I like the door alrams so you are aware you haven't quite closed a compartment. It's motor is very quiet which is nice when you have an open floor plan in a smaller home. It takes a little creative placement to decide how the shelves work for you, but in the end it works out well.
Summary: I too bought the refrigerator for the size, counter depth and not too tall. After 6 months it stopped working, and it seems the repair will take at least 10 days. It is under full warranty---but I had to go out and buy another small refrigerator to tide us over until this one is fixed.
