Summary: Congratulations on doing your due diligence by researching before buying. I wish I was in your shoes and done that before spending a dime on this useless piece of junk! Please heed the advice of countless duped customers on the Web and avoid this sorry excuse of an equipment at all costs. Even if they threw it on me stuffed full of money I would run! Research "touch panel problems" for this cr@p, and you'll see what I mean. You have been warned!
Summary: I wish I would have studied this thing before buying, but I did not. We were taken by the looks and the neat lighting, geeze. Purchased in summer '08, first problem was the control panel which failed during a storm, replaced under warranty. Next up, the water filler push / trigger broke, of course in the ON position. Out of warranty, purchased the part from Electrolux, someplace in the $100 range. Now we have an interior water leak I am working on.
Summary: This is worst appliance I have ever owned. The 15 year old $700 refrigerator I have in my garage is of higher quality and performance than this one. Please do not anyone else waste their money on an Electrolux refrigerator. The display has been replaced 3 times and is now broken again. The water and ice dispenser are broken - just snapped off one day. And now, it powers off for no reason at random times and then the power fail beeping goes off.
Summary: Ice and water dispenser started acting up about six months after we bought it. It would stay "on" and spray water/ice all over the floor. It was an intermittent problem so I unfortunately ignored it. Now it happens 50% of the time we use it. We keep a large pitcher by the fridge for the kids to grab if someone makes the mistake of trying to get water or ice. It will empty half the dispenser before stopping.
Summary: ++++++++++++++++ Update: After 3 years of use the Water/Ice dispenser arm broke in the *flow* position and partially flooded my kitchen. Luckily my wife caught it in time before it did major damage. The arm broke because it was under tension by the return spring and the plastic just gave way and fractured after 3 years of use. Also the only way to repair is to buy the whole Dispenser module for around $90 plus shipping. You cannot just buy the broken piece.
