The STR-DG910 is the advanced model to the STR-DG810. It includes all of the functionality of the STR-DG810, but adds onscreen setup. Also note that the STR-DG910 is a 7.1 receiver, while the others are only 6.1. The Sony STR-DG910 comes with three 1080p HDMI inputs, transcoding of component (and composite) analog video to HDMI, XM sat-radio readiness, automatic speaker setup with a supplied calibration microphone, a Digital Media Port for use with an optional iPod dock or Bluetooth dongle, and seven 100-watt amplifier channels. Setting up everything is quite easy. Inputs and outputs are clearly labeled. However it is highly recommended to read the instruction manual before setting up your entire home theater system and get everything to your satisfaction. The set-up is time-consuming, but once everything is connected relax and watch some movies or listen to some cds. You will be surprised and happy that there are settings and adjustments for everything. The Sony STR-DG910 7.1-channel home theater receiver is amazing. This A/V receiver features multichannel analog inputs, which means that some systems wouldn’t be able to present multichannel SACD (or DVD-A) recordings at all, given that some current and most earlier models provided no high-resolution multichannel digital output, and this receiver does not decode SACD’s DSD-multichannel stream as other higher-end models do. The DG910 further lacks any second-zone capabilities, but on the other hand, the STR-DG910 still comes with a lot of good substance. The menus can be displayed on your TV. One user says that he is very happy with this receiver, having had several Sony products; he rates this one rates as really very good. Although the Sony STR-DG910 A/V receiver is amply equipped with composite- and component-video inputs and outputs, it has no S-Video connections whatsoever. Overall people found it to be a very fine AV receiver to home entertainment system.
Prepare to stand in awe as the STR-DG910 audio video receiver envelops you with 7.1 channels of crisp and powerful surround sound, taking your entertainment to the next level.
Of course, none of these niggles amounts to much compared to the simple fact that the Sony STR-DG910 A/V receiver lets you plug in a 1080p source — or three — and view it right out of the $500 box, while providing the valuable convenience of single-cable HDMI hookups. It also delivers generally fine performance, enough real-world power for most systems in modestly sized rooms, and an impressive array of extras. Read more
