The Sony ES STR-DA5300ES is a home theater receiver that uses HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) switching and video upconverting technology that converts a video for it to have a higher definition or picture resolution. The HDMI is an interface that replaces the commonly used cables such as RF or coaxial cables or S-video connectors. The product stands thirteen inches high, twenty-three inches wide and twenty three inches long and weighs forty-four pounds.

Technical Details

The product has a surround sound audio output mode and the following built in decoder: Dolby Pro Logic IIx, , Digital Surround EX , DTS-ES decoder, Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby, DTS Neo:6, DTS 96/24, Dolby Digital that provides excellent results to the sound quality. It uses digital tuner technology and supports AM and FM radio stations. The product is also XM Satellite Radio ready although it would require an XM subscription and an optional XM-Mini Tuner package. A universal remote could be used to control this device for easy use.

    First of let me begin the sound of this receiver is terrible this receiver may be good for some low or mid fi home theater but not hi fi if thats what you are looking for and the price they charge for this thing 1700 dollars found it on amazon and a couple of other places for 1100 dollars. i would say its worth no more than 650 dollars.     I recently installed a Home Theater for a co-worker and this Receiver just happens to be the brains of the whole setup. It has been several years since I have setup a Receiver and this particular model offers the Sony Crossbar GUI. I found this very easy to use and made the process go much faster.
