Now with firmware updates the unit is better but still has an issue yet to be resolved

I purchased this on advance order so was one of the "beta testers." If it wasn't for the firmware updates which were obtained through an audio video forum, I would be very unhappy with this purchase due to several serious problems with this unit and others produced in 2007. There have been 3 firmware updates since the release last fall which addressed most of the problems including audio lock on problems. No information about them is posted on the Onkyo website. I upgraded from a Denon 3803 and I can't believe how much better this receiver drives my Klipsch RF 83's. The Denon seemed shallow, underpowered, dull, and lifeless. I knew I needed a receiver with a better power supply to drive the difficult load of the Klipsch which can dip down as low as 3.6 ohms. Read more
