Summary: GE, a reputable company has nerve to use plastic for their knobs. The heat that comes from the oven has melted them. I called their service department and they told me to order new knobs. I am now on a crusade to have GE replace them free of charge because of their design flaw.
Summary: The temperature (flame) adjustment on the stove top is touchy. You have to pay close attention to get the adjustment right. The LED panel at the top has a nearly clear cover, so you get to see all of the electronics and circuit boards underneath. (I don't understand that. Detracts from the look of the unit immensely.) The electric warming oven at bottom is nice for plates. The cast iron pan supports on top are solid.
Summary: we have had this range for a while now. For the most part it is fine, but the big 18K BTU burner is a let down. Even with a stock pot over the burner, it heats up the microwave above to a level I fear will damage the microwave. With so much heat energy being wasted, it is no wonder that the boil time is not as fast as one would expect. I recently used a similar range from a different company while on vacation.
Summary: I bought this range because I liked how it had 5 burners and the extra oven on the bottom. However, the middle griddle range is pretty useless. I tried making pancakes on it but it doesn't get hot enough to cook the pancakes. I have not tried using the extra lower oven. Since the oven is so large, I can fit everything in the oven with multiple racks. The burners get dirty and the spots are kind of hard to clean.
Summary: I bought this range five years ago through home depot. Initially the convection didn't work and service was called (thank god for the service contract). They fixed it but it broke again and was finally replaced. I recently used the self clean on it and it melted all the burner knobs which look like stainless steel but are actually plastic. Can you believe it cost $20 dollars for one new plastic knob? Middle burner is useless. I wouldn't recommend.
Summary: Everytime I walk in the kitchen, this stove takes my breath away. Can't say enough great things about it. I researched long and hard and am beyond pleased with it. Excellent quality and practicality. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Best price through Abes of Maine - cheaper retailers are primarily scam artists. Stick with a proven, honest retailer. Abes is the best I've found!
Pros: Attractive Design, Convenient, Easy To Use, GORGEOUS, Practical, Quality Construction
Summary: I have had this range for a few weeks and am quite satisfied with it. I do not find it difficult to keep clean. However, the glass touch controls always seem to have fingerprints, and you must shut down the panel to clean it without engaging all the functions. To power boil, the burner requires a 12" or larger pan. After purchasing, I read that it takes approximately one half hour to heat up the small lower oven. What?
Summary: I just installed this stove in my home on 3/29/2008. Over the weekend we tried every function we could think of. We baked we Convection baked we tried the lower oven and every burner We even used the griddle. This is a fine piece of equipment. There are two complaints which is why the 4 stars. 1. The stove had a small dent on the left side I noticed right away. This dent is low and when slid in is not noticeable.
