Summary: The space for my stove is tight, but by the dimensions given I expected my new GE to fit into the spot. My bad, but I didn't notice the back control panel exceeds the given dimensions by over half an inch. I had to remove a tiling job I had just completed to fit the stove in and now have to redo the tiling. Also, never having had a smooth top before I have been surprised at how much slower it is to attain the desired heat than a coil stove.
Summary: I love the look of this slate, it is so modern and beautiful yet very easy to keep clean, unlike stainless steel. I hope to add the matching dishwasher and fridge very soon. The power boil feature does work quickly as long as you are sure to use flat bottom pans. The only drawback is that I cannot use my cast iron skillets on it as I used to with my old gas stove.
Summary: Have used GE ovens for the last 5 years; all in different homes. Finally bought a home last year and had to replace previous GE oven. Slate finish is great and I have grown to love the flat ceramic cook top. Great when having to clean up after spills. Nothing drains into a void that has to be cleaned from underneath like an element stove creates. Have not used steam clean option but look forward to trying.
Summary: We purchased the entire slate grouping and LOVE it. We didn't like stainless steel; so glad GE gave us this slate option. This range is gorgeous. I agree that you should keep the manual handy until you get used to the controls-I had a similar problem turning the oven on as did another reviewer. The cooktop is easy to clean. The oven is huge and I like the hidden element.
