Summary: The SkyCaddie SGX worked as advertised. I followed the instructions. I first charged my SGX. Than I downloaded the CaddieSync software to my PC running the Microsoft Vista OS. Using the CaddieSync software, I then registered my SGX with Skygolf and paid the $31.75 annual fee. This enabled me to initially download about ten courses local to me. I can download more courses as I need them. Next, I connected my fully charged SGX to my computer using the cable provided.
Summary: Had an SG 4 which was fine for me. Then, when I couldn't recharge it because of the coupling connection on the unit (second time it happened ...first time they fixed it for free and told me it was a design flaw) and Sky Golf told me it would be $40 to fix it I got steamed and just let my membership expire. I was actually looking into laser rangefinders but realized that at my level of play it was more trouble than it was worth.
Summary: I have used a SkyCaddie SG-3 for about 5 years prior to buying the SGX and it was a big step up. The SGX cuts the time to lock onto a satellite by about 75% and gets me going in minutes. Sometimes by old SG-3 would be four or five holes into the round before it started giving yardages. The SGX also updates much faster between shots. I found when riding a cart that the SG-3 would give wrong yardages until I was stopped for several minutes.
Summary: I love the Sky Caddie SGX. It has proven to have every very extensive courses selection (all that I play or have played) available. The distances are very accurate and the product is very easy to use. I like the fact that it has motion sensors built in that auto change the screen view by simply turning it from upright to left for the scorecard or right for the green view.
Great device, but it takes a little getting used to.

Summary: I have owned SkyCaddies in the past and this model is, by far, the most advanced. Since owning them, my game has improved, from the simple fact that it takes the guesswork out of distances and hazards, especially on new courses. That being said, the only negative to the product is that it doesn't have a back button. There are many times that the SkyCaddie advanced to the next hole and skips the score sheet, or I fat-finger the score sheet and needed to correct it.
Summary: I've been using the SGX for a couple of weeks now. This is my first ever unit, and there's a learning curve. If you subscribe, then don't use a pre-loaded course because all you see is your distance relative to the F, M & B of the green with a screen shot of only the green. I did not read that in the small booklet that comes with the unit. The good news is the SkyCaddie web site has a link where you can either chat or blog questions are receive help.
Summary: I bought this after it had a few software updates done, to iron out the glitches. I am a skycaddie user, and have always loved my SG3, I skipped on the SG5, and upgraded to the SGX instead. The sleek design is a great upgrade in itself. The information available is another high quality upgrade. The screen is much much better, and easily read, and it is intuitive to navigate. My issue at first was the joystick.
Summary: I really like my sgx, it has some great features but it is a little slow when marking the ball and advancing between holes. Also I am not real happy about the fact that it doesn't allow you to map your own courses like th sg5. Well at least I haven't been able to figure out how to do it.
Summary: I initially purchased the Callway Upro GPS thinking that it was a good deal because you don't have to purchase a subscription. Then i realized that i had to purchase 150 bucks worth of credits to get the courses down to a reasonable rate. That is 5 years worth of state subscription or 3 years worth of nationwide. Considering the flimsy feel of the callaway i didn't think it would last that long.
Summary: Well after waiting for so long to get this item, I took it to the course and found that once its working! (meaning upgrades and downloads, also transfer of accounts). I found that the SGX has some very useful items. I found that it was very user friendly and give you all the bells that they talked about, all the hipe was true and it worked very very well. If you can get pass the software issues, and get this thing to work! its a dream...
