Summary: Great information and an advance in features over my SG5. Much better detailed measurements and information than lasers or others gps devices. You must pay for plans, but fees are not bad. If you don't want to knock off several strokes per round don't spend the money. Especially helpful on courses that are not familiar.
Annual membership fee is a drawback. Other brands available. Shop around.

Summary: Unless you willing to pay an annual membership stay away from these type units. For the cost of the unit the least they could do is give you a 1 year free membership. It might be a good unit, but there are other brands that offer pre-loaded courses, free updates, and NO membership or annual fees. I was lucky in that I was able to sell this unit 2 days after my eBay win.
Great product. Useful tool for all skill levels. A must have for any golfer

Summary: Great product! Every golfer, if they can manage to, should own this device or a device like it. You will know what your distances are to the green from anywhere on the hole. No more walking off distances, or relying on yardage markers. You'll know how far you hit every club in your bag as you can mark off your position from wherever you hit the ball, and check the distance when you arrive at the landing spot.
Summary: This is NOT what it is advertised to be. You get hooked into buying yearly subscriptions and when I downloaded the courses I play here in Minnesota, it didn't have the layout of the course. Only an approximate of where I stood, and where the flag was. I couldn't look at the current hole and see if it went left, right or straight. A BIG waste of my money.
Best thing I spent my money on this year, love my SkyCaddie!

Summary: Had seen several friends using a device like this and it seemed to be helping their game and mine as I looked over their shoulder to get distances. It gives you accurate distances to hazards, greens, OB, and to layup targets. I have gotten to know exactly how far my irons and driver will actually carry as a benefit that I didn't expect. I had to play a round without my sky caddie and felt LOST out on the course.
Summary: Not so much a review of the product, but of the company. My unit's firmware was corrupted during an attempted fix by an SG Tech, making it unable to be recognized by a PC, whereupon SG charged me $30 to replace a unit they had fried. Will not do business with this company again, too many competitors that are better, especially those that do not require a yearly membership or entail laborious downloads. I would suggest looking at Golf Buddy.
Conclusion: I recently purchased the SkyCaddie SGX GPS device. I have owned 2 Sky Caddies before, the SG4, and the SG5 and now the SGX. I have used it 5 times now, purchased the top tier membership plan. I am not overly pleased with the SGX. The screen is certainly larger that the 5 and it does have good graphics. Distances displayed are quite accurate (I compared them to 2 different on cart GPS systems).
