Summary: I purchased it to know the distance of deer when rifle hunting. It is fairly accurate, however the viewing lense is very small and not easy to quickly focus on anything. Also the read out is in black and does not illuminate so it is difficult to quickly see in low light conditions. If I ever purchase another range finder I will look for a larger than 21mm viewing lense and an illuminated read out.
Summary: I PURCHASED THE NIKON RIFLEHUNTER 550 RANGEFINDER MAINLY TO BOW HUNT WITH, ALTHOUGH IT WILL ALSO BE USED FOR GUN HUNTING ON OCCASION. I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH PRIOR TO MAKING MY DECISION ON THE NIKON 550. UPON USING THE RANGEFINDER I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THE PURCHASE. IT IS VERY EASY TO USE AND "DEADLY" ACCURATE ON THE YARDAGE. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RANGEFINDER. IT IS BY FAR THE BEST ONE I HAVE SEEN IN IT'S PRICE RANGE AND CLASS.
Summary: I purchased this item for bowhunting in Oregon. Where I bowhunt you would be hard pressed to find a spot where the ground is level, and that was the biggest reason I chose the Rifle Hunter over the Prostaff models as it has Nikon's ID (incline/decline) technology. This range finder does EXACTLY what it claims. I have found it to be very accurate. Also, I am amazed at how quickly it gives readings.
Must Have For Hunters and a Great Hunter Accessory
5 January 2012
Summary: It's from Nikon, with a lifetime warranty, so it is a great product. The directions on how to load the battery, and how to use it are a little complicated, and not very clearly written for the average user. I had to go online to a community website to get some product information regarding how to use the product. Other than that, it is dead on!! Angle adjust is automatic. Found out that the targets at our local "rifle range" are off by as much as 10 yards..
