Summary: The manual recommends changing the filters twice a year. They cost $135 each. You will pay for this hood many times over. Most filters cost less than $20. This filter can only be purchased through GE. Is loud, and doesn't filter well.
Summary: Check out the cost of the charcoal filters. They can only be purchased by GE. You can get some hood filters for under $5. This one will cost you $270 for two required filters each year. There is no reason why they had to design them to be so expensive. IT is encased in a heavy casing. If the case was designed to open or just to hold a cheap filter, it could cost under $5 to replace the filter.
Summary: The description of the product is misleading.....it is NOT a chimney hood but a wall unit. I had to purchase another model. Suppliers were gracious to allow a return beyond the date, but sadly the shipment costs were too high so I now have the two hoods.
Summary: Pros: Looks great! Lighting is bright a illuminates the cooking surface well. Fan has 4 speeds and if vented to the outside will do a good job of keeping odors out of the house. Cons: The fan is loud esp. on speeds 2-4 and the duct work was built assuming this hood will vent straight up through the roof so it comes with a spring loaded flap to prevent cold down drafts. The flap was clanking around on low speed so I just pulled it out..
