Broan Evolution 2, great hood for the price range!

Summary: We recently upgraded our gas cooktop for a Bosch. After 1 broken microwave hood because the BTUs on the Bosch were too high for a microwave combo, we upgraded to the Broan Evolution 2 Stanless Steel Hood. My husband and I installed it in less than 1 hour. We used the ductless option. If you are using the hood to replace a microwave and do not want to hardwire the hood, you must purchase a separate part (Broan HCK44 Power Cord Kit) to add the plug, which was very easy.
Summary: Q: Is it easy to change the light bulbs in this range hood? A: Yes, it is a simple matter for anyone with advanced degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering and who is adept at advanced acrobatics. First, remove the fan screens. Then, while crouching upside down and backward over your range with a Phillips head screwdriver, it is simple to remove the 6 screws holding the fan guard in place. Next, modify the sheet metal casing around the wiring chases.
Summary: We got this to go over a new stove and it has taken months to install it, my fault and nobody else's ! It seems to work well, but is a bit noisy even on minimum, but I suspect there is a problem with the venting, which will be investigated when/if the snow goes away so I can get to it ! It would have been better if the top sheet metal were thicker (or reinforced at the right places), as it distorts at the mounting screw locations under its own weight.
Looks great.......significant improvement over the old unit

Summary: We bought this house over two years with an over the range microwave. While the microwave placement was convenient, cooking underneath it was less than desirable. The light was poor, the fan never worked well and the space was limited. This hood is a nice replacement. It does not have premium features but provides a premium-ish appearance. The finish is nice and it is decently built. Like many appliances today, it could be sturdier but is strong enough for the purpose.
Summary: I haven't installed it yet (kitchen remodel still underway) but it appears to be good quality and well made. I wasn't sure how one would replace the installed bulbs but you get a suction cup bulb remover (which I did not know what it was until I read the instructions) The installation instuctions are pretty clear with a good details on mounting locations etc. I did purchase the optional filters for non ducted iinstallation and they seem to mount securely and easily.
Summary: This took a little more time to install than anticipated. The left side back screw is in an awkward position. Other than that work very well. Takes a little getting use to the auto on function.
Summary: This is a very nice hood. It's not too loud, even on the highest speed. I have to use it ductless, so it's not going to perform as it would if it were connected to a duct. The installation in my kitchen was really difficult- mostly due to my cabinets (it took a couple of hours). However, a few shims fixed that problem. You will need a very long screwdriver.
