Excerpt: This is a VERY complex device and it lives or dies with the knowledge of the user. Unfortunately Uniden chose to assume that the buyer was an expert and I am extremely disappointed as I am anything but. For the price that they charge, they should have included extensive tutorials. As a scanner it works very well, I guess, but I am only able to use one percent or less of its functionality due to my ignorance.
Pros: Clear Signal, Good Audio, Lightweight, Rugged
Cons: A Shocking Dearth Of Docs, Complicated Controls, Difficult To Program
Excerpt: For the price very poor reception along with being complicated to program.
Other Radio Shack scanners that I own are rock solid with great performance .
Seems like Uniden needs to listen to the folks that are the average Joes using this
product. Oh yea good luck with support from Uniden..
Cons: Complicated Controls, Difficult To Program, Drains Battery, Poor Reception, Short Range
Excerpt: I was skeptical at first to add this Uniden digital scanner to my collection, especially considering the hugh arsenal of scanners I already own. But when my purchased arrived, I was up and running within an hour. Keep in mind! Any modern day digital or analogue scanner will come with a modest to a steep learning curve. Patience is of value here.
Pros: Compact Light Weight, Dependable, Good Voice Quality, Great value, Loaded With Features
Excerpt: can be dificult to program if you have never done one before. audio must be adjusted per chanell with offset feature. i would like to have more offset capability. had to buy the rs232 adapter to connect to my computer, USB not included.
