User Review

Logan W., Newegg
21 June 2013
  • Pros: -Picked up targets at a good distance -Very consistent
  • Cons: Had it for around 7 months and it will not stop trying to reset itself. Most likely a simple electrical issue which may have been brought on by the Arizona sun.

  • Summary: its ok i guess 35 bucks is not bad, you still got to be careful while driving because this will alert but nothing is there, and not alert when cops are there would not recommend it.

  • Pros: can pick up just about anything on the road, when you drive past a grocery store or a store in general it picks up on the security system and tells you how close you are to that object.. does the same thing for police radars too, highway mode is the best!!!!!!
  • Cons: CVS

Lousy detector, GREAT looking paper weight!

  • Summary: The Whistler XTR-145 was an absolute waste of money. I bought it because it "read good". Tried it out, and when I was directly next to a state trooper that had pulled someone over,it gave a a very short 2-beep indication. When I arrived home, I immediately threw it in the trash.

Great for Price

  • Summary: Will probably upgrade and spend a bit more for something with more range.
  • Pros: Price is what this is all about. They are good for the price. I like the "disconnect" button on the side to pull it down off the dash, can remove it with one hand, nice.
  • Cons: Not much range on it. You really got to be quick when the lights go off, because you are right on the cop and have maybe 2-3 second warning.

  • Summary: I have Whistler XTR-145 Radar Detector Only two weeks. With a radar I yet didn't meet policemen. On a door of supermarkets the antiradar works. Means will work and on a radar of policemen.

Great for the Price

Tyler G., Newegg
8 February 2012
  • Summary: Very good for the price. Hasn't failed me. Sometimes I'll go by cops on the side of the road, and it won't pick anything up. When i study the car in the review mirror I can usually tell that either, there's no cop inside, or he's obviously not scanning traffic.
  • Pros: I got my first speeding ticket a few months ago and immediately decided to arm myself. I didn't have a lot of money at the time so I bought the XTR-265. So far this thing has been great. I can count at least 5 times it probably saved me from a speeding ticket - most recently today. I was cruising...
  • Cons: My only con is the range. The range is good, but I wish it had more. Some people claim 1-2 miles. No way. Impossible. The best I've seen has been 0.8 miles at the MOST. (Still more than enough time to slow down). It seems to me like the cops will use different strengths or radar. Some I can pick ...

I don't always use radar, but when I do, I choose whistler, stay cloaked my friends

Christopher S., Newegg
10 January 2012
  • Summary: Blue led's are a great indication when your middle of the night driving and you got your music louder than your able to hear the beep, you can't miss them glowing.
  • Pros: 4 days after I got it in the mail, I began a relocating trip to Florida from Buffalo, NY. I have had a radar detector since I started driving in 2004 but the one I had prior to this only detected x, k, ka band and was severely outdated. This one picks up radar/laser welllllllllll before you even ...
  • Cons: Don't freak out when your radar shuts off from picking up X band, you can disable it from doing that easily.....that's my only con, i freaked out when it looked like it shut off but kept beeping.
