Summary: The Vector 995 used to be near the top of the line 5-7 years ago. According to various sources it is essentially the same as an Escort 8500 x50 in detection range and sensitivity. This makes sense if since Bel is owned by Escort.
Had a good price and favorable reviews, but I'm not so sure.

Summary: I bought this to replace an Escort 8500 that I had for many years. I seems to be OK for the most part, but it does give much too frequent laser alerts for no apparent reason. Enough so that they no longer have any impact. Not a good situation.
When it comes to radar detectors, keep it cheap and simple like this one.

Summary: This is a great all around detector. I Haven't gotten stopped with it yet! (knock on wood.) I don't think it matters when you get a radar detector on this level. They can detect so for that you should be slowing down long before they are even close.
Summary: A good product to buy. Only hitch i found was in the city , beeper would go off even at few signal lights and near stores using the same band. I think the range is ok as far as detecting any signal on the higway is concerned.
Summary: I bought this product because of obvious reasons :) I don't like how it picks up places like walgreens or CVS but you're going to get that with any radar detector. aside from that, it is absolutely fabulous!!!
Summary: Best radar in $300 range. Beltronics is essentially an Escort/Passport under a different skin and price. Minimal false alarms and good range to adjust speed once detected. Overall great version BEL V995. I had cobras and whistlers, neither can compare to the reliability of this radar.
