Excerpt: This is the worst detector I have ever owned. Pick up is terrible. I have had it in for repair twice, but still does not detect most bands. I wish I could get my money back from the manufacturer, but no such luck.
Excerpt: The Vector 995 should have been called the Sweeper. It picks up all sorts of garbage except real threats. Its specialty is bank and store alarm systems. Ultimately, it becomes a nuisance to the driver as it beeps, chirps, buzzes, etc all the time for no real reason. This in any of its three settings. On one occasion, it remained silent on the highway while the cops were pointing their guns at the traffic. Good thing I was not speeding.
Pros: easy to use
Cons: unable to pick up real threats in any appropriate setting
Very poor customer services from Beltronics and bad detector
14 December 2005
Excerpt: I got this Bel Vector 995 for about 1 year and lost 6 points as this detector do not do its job as what it stated from Bel. It also comes with a fault message and I contacted Beltronics. They asked me to send back this unit to the State from the UK but the shipment is almost more then the unit itself. I also understand from this Bel Vector995 the software could be upgradeable.
Pros: The case look nice
Cons: It do not work with radar and lots of fault alarms.
Excerpt: My Vector 995 is a $279 paperweight after just 8 months of occasional use. First it started acting crazy suddenly giving full-strength false alarms in the middle of nowhere, now it just displays "service required". Beltronics will not repair it under warranty because I can't find the original receipt, EVEN THOUGH I REGISTERED THE WARRANTY WHEN I BOUGHT IT AND THEY HAVE ME LISTED IN THEIR DATABASE. I thought that was the whole point of registering the warranty???
Pros: nice display... when it works
Cons: far too many false alarms, unreliable, bad warranty service
