Summary: Worked like a dream when new, but over last year the unit freezes and will not allow any changes to channel selection, preset recordings don't always take place, or unit keeps recording on one channel all night long. When unit is working the time to change channels gets longer as time goes by. Humax know of problem, but first software change did work. They are trialling new software with some customers but does not look like a fix is coming anytime soon.
Pros: being able to record 2 channels and watch 3rd (depending on channel)
A great machine when it works, sadly fails too often

Excerpt: I bought this on a recommendation. I also recommended the machine to someone else. So we are talking three machines here. The one belonging to my friend who recommended it. The one I bought. The one belonging to the friend who I recommended it to. One has been back for repair. Ultimately, all three have been returned for exchange. These were all bought from John Lewis.
Summary: The menu system on the Thomson DHD4000 was better. The first unit I bought would not menu properly at all (menu incomplete). I exchanged it on the same day (17/03) and this one worked, but 2-3 times per day the Duovision freezes and locks up. All you can do is turn it off, leave it for a minute then turn it back on. I contacted Humax who tell me this is a "known problem" for which a software fix will be issued.
Pros: The big hard disk, picture quality and tuner sensitivity
