Excerpt: I'm using the product to digitize recorded programs that are on my Directv DVR. The Hauppauge HD DVR 2 is a great solution for recording television programs and the quality is wonderful. I do recommend that you have a decent computer with at least a Core 2 Duo processor to handle the video processing without sacrificing recorded quality.
Excerpt: I use the product for YouTube videos and live streaming on YouTube and Twitch. The system took me a few days to understand thanks to the Happuage application on YouTube. However its simple and comes with video editing software which is better than Movie Maker and it Helps to record live presentations and audio simultaneously.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Powerful
Cons: 4gb Of Ram Or More, Large Amount Of Cpu Ram, Needs A Fast Internet
Summary: I really do Love this product but I did get a little confused when setting it up only because of the 2 red connections I accidently put them in the wrong red to the wrong red but after I fixed that it worked great and no humming sound excellent product :). Very Satisfied and would reccommend it to a friend quality of video depends on you :) and You may or may not have to adjust your mic if your recording cuz of the little lag to the computer but it does capture...
Summary: Great when it works. However this device(1512) did nothing but crash on me. I had the old HD-PVR 2 GE and never had any problems(Minus some heat issues). I could never get 1512 version up and running correctly even after two PC formats. It had to be fault hardware or the line is faulty. I'll be looking into Elgato or If I have faith in Hauppauge again the Rocket.
Excerpt: I bought this box for converting my 8mm tapes to digital format. The product worked well out of the box. It was easy to setup. There are options to convert at highest frame rate, but this does create large size files.
Excerpt: This is a very interesting piece of equipment, which I bought to record some programs from my DVR (it seems I record more than I watch, so eventually I run out of space). The PVR was a little cranky at first and setup wasn't quite as straightforward as I would have liked, but eventually I was able to record HD programming. The setup included component video and optical audio connections.
Summary: I had the HD PVR 1 and let me tell you, this is the perfect upgrade for capturing with HDMI. I used to hate switching between HDMI and HD cables to record my things so this is perfect if you live in this decade and play/record with HDMI. I have had this for a couple months now with absolutely no issues. I use it with my Xbox 360 but have not tried it with Playstation or the Xbox One yet.
Summary: What an ordeal getting a PVR that works the way you need it. I first bought the Avermedia unit because I didn't like the idea of always needing to have a PC or laptop connected in order to record game replays. It was quickly returned because it didn't function at all right out of the box. It required an update to function and it required a certain process based on a series of menu options in order to update.
