Summary: Once you have parted with your £££££s you will be delighted at such a bargain. Then you will get home and set it up - again you will be delighted because it is all so easy and simple. At the start everything will be cool and again you will congratulate yourself on a great purchase. But then you will start to notice things. It will miss the odd recording and you will ask yourself "was it me? Did I fail to schedule it". No, you didn't. It was the machine.
Pros: It is cheap
Cons: Every function in the software and unreliability
Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS TERRIBLE PRODUCT - JUST DON'T Why would you listen to me? What do I know anyway? Well I am a long time hi if, home cinema, TV nut. Some 20 years or so. But I also run the largest number of consumer product testing labs in the UK. Including labs that test for Which magazine. This is without doubt one of the very worst PVRs I Have ever seen / used / owned - and I have seen hundreds. You will find it tapes what you want - sometimes. Sometimes not.
This Freeview Recorder has made my TV viewing so much easier and convenient. Wouldn't be without it.

Excerpt: This Freeview recorder offers fantastic value for money when you consider all the features you get with it. The fact that you can simply record onto a hard drive is enough for me. Gone are those days of having to use blank tapes/DVD's and worrying about whether you were recording over something or you had enough space on it. It's so convenient and saves on storage space and money as you don't need all those blank tapes.
Summary: I've had two of these devices now, and each lasted approximately 11 months before going defunct. I appreciate I could just be unlucky, but TWO PVR's breaking down irreparably just on the limit of the 12 month guarantee??? Fortunately I keep the paperwork otherwise I'd be out-of-pocket. I'm not happy with this device for reliability.
Pros: It does what it says on the box - almost...
Cons: The fact that it doesn't seem to actually work without breaking down.
Excerpt: With our Sky contract coming to an end, and having put up with the last three months of the contracts price going up each month we decided not to renew the contract but to get a digital tv recorder. We decided on the recorder bit of it because we had got used to Sky plus box which let us record one programme while watching another and pausing programmes while we went out of the room and start them off again when we returned.
