Excerpt: If I knew how this thing works...I'll never buy it. It's not dependable...will not work on chrome os. Works only on IE, but very, very slow to come up...if it will ever come up.... I recommend not to buy this item...It's useless...
Excerpt: Setup was very easy, found all my cameras. Found my USB hard drive and formatted it, no problems. However viewing the video stream through JAVA plugins or DirectX really detracts from it. You just have to jump through hoops to get it to work so you can at least see it. If you log in directly to the device on your local network and try to view video, forget it.. Java or DirectX didn't work for me.. In internet explorer, firefox or Chrome.. OSX and Windows..
Excerpt: Device is very difficult to setup. Setup Software from DLink fails to recognize cameras, takes many, many attempts to access cameras during setup. Once configured, system either accesses cameras all the time, or not at all, even when configuring cams for motion sensing. App for Android does not work at all. Video is stored in proprietary database format that can only be read with viewing software included in installation download.
Cons: Difficult To Set Up, Hard To Use, Inefficient, Unreliable
Summary: This device works fine once you installed it, but upgrading its firmware is a real pain in the ass. I had trouble to access the device from Mydlink portal and NVR IP address after the firmware was upgraded. Failure to access it means I can't configure the device. Called technical support and still couldn't have the issue resolved. I finally gave up, it simply not worth to spend any of my time trying to get it to work.
