Yggdra Union

Family Friendly Gaming
2 February 2013
  • Excerpt: Yggdra Union is a lesser known Gameboy Advance (GBA) game that was ported over to the Playstation Portable (PSP). Atlus is an amazing publisher who sometimes finds the most obscure games and brings them to the American audience. This can be a good thing in some games, and at other times it is not received as well. Yggdra Union is a turn based strategy role playing game with cards. Before you freak out and think this is like Yu-Gi-Oh! know that Yggdra Union is different.

4cr Review – Yggdra Union (PSP)

4 color rebellion

  • Conclusion: With forty-eight battlefields (some containing multiple stages), you won’t have to worry about running out of content too quickly. Each battle takes roughly thirty minutes to an hour, so expect at least a good thirty hours out of the game. The bottom line? For fans of the genre, Yggdra Union is definitely worth a try. It’s familiar enough that fans of SRPGs will immediately be comfortable, but is different enough to provide a breath of fresh air.

Critical Union Strike

RPGamer
15 April 2010
  • Excerpt: Yggdra Union: We'll Never Fight Alone was first released in 2006 for the Game Boy Advance, right near the end of the system's life cycle. It was a unique tactical RPG with a card-based system used in combat, but due to the timing of its release, it was missed by many people. Thankfully for gamers that missed the GBA version, Atlus decided to bring Sting's PSP rendition of Yggdra Union to North America.

Together Once Again

RPGamer
15 April 2010
  • Excerpt: Originally released for the Game Boy Advance at the end of the system's lifespan, this tactical RPG gem didn't garner nearly as much attention as it deserved. Though hobbled by a sharp difficulty curve, those players that got through the game were rewarded with a rich story, engaging characters, and interesting battle mechanics.

Yggdra Union: We'll Never Fight Alone (PSP) Review

411mania.com
2 July 2009
  • Summary: Yggdra Union: We’ll Never Fight Alone is a pretty solid port of a pretty solid GBA game with some nice upgrades to compliment the new technology. It’s a pretty hardcore game with a steep learning curve but if you like the genre you will most likely love this game. It may not be the definitive portable RPG, but on a portable system that is desperately hungry for them…this might very well be your best bet. It’s a cute, charming game that I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

Yggdra Union

Playstation Illustrated
26 May 2009
  • Excerpt: Looking at Yggdra Union , you would never know that it was originally a GBA game. The PSP version has been completely reworked and looks incredible. Characters are big and detailed, right down to the smallest of facial expressions and other pieces of ornamentation. Although the animation is a bit choppy at times, it still looks good - especially when you have two armies going at each other. The only downside is the lack of unique characters in battle.

Yggdra Union Review

Strategy Gaming Online
23 October 2008
  • Excerpt: There's a lot of cross-hybridization going on in games lately. Gone are the days of the “pure” adventure game or shooter; recently, it's like game genres have all turned into the Real Housewives of Orange County—all sporting fancy, hyphenated names. In this era of the action-adventure, the fighter-RPG and the tactical-sim, Yggdra Union, the new board game-card game-tactical RPG on the PSP must feel right at home.

Yggdra Union Review

GamerNode
11 September 2008
  • Excerpt: You probably won’t be surprised to hear that a few years back a little-known developer brought out a fun albeit unknown RPG on the GBA. The handheld was littered with cult hits (more so than any other platform), and RPGs seemed to be the basic currency in which they came. That game was a strategy RPG/card game called Yggdra Union.
