UFC Undisputed 2010 (PSP)

D+PAD
9 October 2010
  • Conclusion: UFC Undisputed 2010 on the PSP is a game that impresses and frustrates in equal measure. The sheer amount of features and the depth of the fighting mechanics mark it as a successful port of the original (a title that is already well established as offering a quality fighting experience); unfortunately it often struggles on a technical level and while it is admirable that Yukes have done everything that can to make the PSP version as authentic as possible, this has come...

  • Excerpt: You know how MMA fighters use every muscle in their body during matches? Well, UFC Undisputed 2010 uses every single button on the PSP – there’s not a single button that doesn’t do anything, it really is a deep game and one that will certainly appease fans of simulations and those who enjoy the spectacle of the human chess game that is Mixed Martial Arts.

  • Conclusion: I’m not comparing UFC Undisputed 2010 on the PSP to the PS3/360 version and docking points -– I’m just letting you know where it stands as it is a direct port of that title. When I step back and take in the whole picture that is UFC PSP, I like it. The controls work and were easier for me to get into than their dual-stick brothers, there is a lot to do and plenty of unlockables, and it looks good.

  • Excerpt: To hear UFC president Dana White describe it, Mixed Martial Arts is the fastest-growing sport in the world. And it's hard to be proven wrong when a sport that was only even legal in a couple of states fifteen years ago is now one of the biggest in the country. Several games that attempt to simulate the full range of MMA have been made, and the UFC games from THQ and Yuke's have been, by far, the best efforts made yet.

  • Excerpt: Having had the chance to review the Xbox 360 and PS3 version of UFC Undisputed 2010, I was somewhat intrigued when the PSP version arrived on my office desk. The thought of such a deep and robust game being ported over to Sony’s handheld console was an interesting thought indeed, given the limitations of the hardware. Well, after spending some time with the final retail version I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with how the game turned out.

  • Excerpt: For a game that consists mostly of punching and kicking people, it sure did take UFC Undisputed 2010 a long time to come out on Sony's handheld, the PSP. The UFC fan base has surely grown over leaps and bounds in the past few years. It would have been appropriate to release it alongside it's bigger console cousin back in May to offset the dilemma that it now faces: finding a market. Every so often, a game comes along that I have to stop and ask "Why bother?

  • Excerpt: Last year’s UFC: Undisputed was a solid entry into this generation of hardware for the world’s premiere MMA company. A polished game engine and impressive presentation combined with the UFC’s surge in popularity to make a sales hit for publisher THQ.
