Twisted Metal: Head-On

Into Liquid Sky
23 March 2007
  • Excerpt: The Twisted Metal series has seen many incarnations since its first appearance on the Playstation. The first two games showed an oddly perverse sense of humor and fun despite the fact that you were killing other drivers and doing massive amounts of collateral damage. When the series was handed off to 989 and then almost put to rest due to a steep decline to mediocrity, most fans of the first two were ready to write the series off.
  • Pros: Plays and feels like Twisted Metal 2, Huge levels and lots going on, Tons of unlockables, Multiplayer is a blast
  • Cons: Graphics and music could use some more effort, Can't play mini-games on their own

Twisted Metal: Head-On

Playstation Illustrated
28 October 2006
  • Excerpt: Twisted Metal: Head-On is the latest (and most handheld) version of Sony’s heavy hitting series. But how does the PSP version of the game stack up to its predecessors? Does this mini-metal hold the same punch as its bigger scale ancestors? With each game I play for the PSP, I find myself more and more in awe over how comparable the graphics are to the current consoles – and TM: Head-On only furthers my amazement.

Twisted Metal: Head On

Portable Review
8 August 2005
  • Excerpt: The Twisted Metal series has always been a favorite of mine and everyone knows what’s what of the series. Twisted Metal 2 is definitely the best, while 3 and 4 were rather bland and Small Brawl… was just a fun disgrace. The PS2 Twisted Metal game, Twisted Metal Black, brought back the series to the fun and fast paced game that it once was. Twisted Metal: Head-On probably falls somewhere between Twisted Metal 2 and Twisted Metal Black as my favorite Twisted Metal game.

Expert Review

PSX Extreme
18 March 2005
  • Excerpt: Visually, I wasn't surprised to see Twisted Metal: Head On boast lush, and very clean visuals. Incognito did it before with Black early on in the PS2's lifespan, and they're doing it again with the PSP. Twisted Metal has always been about large arenas to combat in, so some may have questioned how well the PSP would pull this off. In short, Head On delivers in practically every aspect.
