Tomb Raider: Anniversary PSP Review

Console Obsession
30 May 2010
  • Excerpt: Tomb Raider ain’t all about the boobs. You know this, I know this, any gamer worth his salt knows this. Ignore the pixellated buttocks and painfully tight shorts- Tomb Raider is about those breathless few seconds as you leap into the dark air, praying that the ledge you stretch out your fingers for isn’t just a seam in the rock face, or the rush of wonder as you crawl out of a tunnel to discover a vast, crumbling and long-forgotten city.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary

Game Boyz
24 June 2008
  • Excerpt: It’s hard to believe that 10 years have passed since Lara Croft first invaded the Playstation, Sega Saturn and PC. Since the original Tomb Raider was released Lara Croft has become a household name and the franchise has sold over 30 million games to date making it one of the biggest video game series of all time. As a tribute of sorts to the original game, Eidos launches Lora Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary (TR: Anniversary for short) for the PSP.

Tomb Raider: Anniversary

Playstation Illustrated
20 June 2008
  • Excerpt: Tomb Raider Anniversary is a very appropriate title for this game to my reckoning. It was just ten years ago that I purchased my first game system and booted up a game. Of course, it was Tomb Raider . I played a lot of games on PlayStation after that, but Lara Croft will always occupy a special place in my gamer's heart. My wife and I celebrate our tenth anniversary this year so you can bet she was there for the action. I remember her looking really good back then.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary Review

VideoGamer.com
13 June 2008
  • Excerpt: Tomb Raider: Anniversary is a remake of the original game that made such a splash ten years ago, meaning Lara's oldest and newest adventure is very different to the action-packed title more recent fans might be expecting. On PS2 it was tomb raiding in its purest form, but on the PSP, where poor camera control can ruin an otherwise great game, is Lara's latest still worth exploring?

Tomb Raider: Anniversary

Auracore MediaWorks
20 February 2008
  • Summary: Lara's latest adventure makes the transition to the Xbox 360, with minimal improvements.
  • Pros: Enormous and vast tombs to explore that feature challenging and devious level design; mostly solid controls; the physics, and audio are all top notch; not a whole lot is new for the 360 version.
  • Cons: Solutions for puzzles don't always work on the first try, resulting in lots of meaningless running around; combat serves mostly as filler; missing some key features that appeared in Tomb Raider: Legend; graphical improvements over the PS2 version are minimal.

Tomb Raider: Anniversary

Auracore MediaWorks
1 February 2008
  • Summary: Lara comes to the Wii and loses something in the conversion.
  • Pros: Enormous and vast tombs to explore that feature challenging and devious level design; the physics, animation, and audio are all top notch; some neat Wii-exclusive features.
  • Cons: Wii-controls are inferior to a trusty controller for this one; solutions for puzzles don't always work on the first try, resulting in lots of meaningless running around; combat has gone from filler to outright annoying in this version; graphics are generally worse than the PS2 version.

Tomb Raider: Anniversary

Cosmos Gaming
15 October 2007
  • Excerpt: To put things simply, this game is great fun. The controls have been overhauled, and controlling Lara has never been easier. In fact, Lara has never looked better. This remake of Tomb Raider 1 is just, all in all, fun to play.
