  • Conclusion: show that the publisher can do other things. Sure you still walk around and beat people up, mug them, steal things, and run from the cops but the game is so fresh, fun, and different from that it warrants a second look. This was one of the better action titles I have played on the PSP and it's a very nice port to boot.

  • Excerpt: Telling the story of numerous gangs in New York City during the movies time period, The Warriors video game manages to provide more than a simple video game rehash of the scenes found in the movie. Instead, were pleasantly greeted with an abundance of backstory and character-building, filling in the holes and the dark areas of movie.

The Warriors

Defunct Games
6 March 2007
  • Summary: The Warriors remains one of the greatest 3D brawlers of all time, even though it has been shrunk down and the controls have been revamped. Those who missed out on the original console experience two years ago should definitely go and pick this game up, especially given the title's $20 price tag! This product was submitted by the publisher for review. As a rule, Defunct Games does not review games we spent money on.

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Whether you're a fan of the original film or not is moot, especially if you're a fan of Rockstar; The Warriors game will make you a fan of both. As a license it perfectly reflects its source material and extrapolates it out into a solid and enjoyable game.

The Warriors

Defunct Games

  • Summary: Rockstar Games delivers yet another solid game with the Warriors, a beat-em-up based on the 1979 movie. Can the Xbox version of the West Side Story be far off? This product was submitted by the publisher for review. As a rule, Defunct Games does not review games we spent money on. However, that does not always apply to classic/retro games. This specific product, however, came straight from a PR guy for the purposes of being reviewed!

The Warriors (PSP)

Gamecell
5 April 2012
  • Conclusion: In addition to the wide scope Warriors gives you to cause havoc, the New York Rockstar have created isn’t just a 2D linear environment; civilians will run to the police and report you if they see you committing a crime, residents will shout abuse at you from their apartments if you’re fighting or robbing a shop. There are innumerable minor touches and attention to detail which make it feel like you’re roaming a living, breathing and brutal city.
  • Pros: Great combat system, Nice graphics and sound, Controls converted well to PSP, Loads of game modes
  • Cons: Lots of motion blur, Very dim visuals, Some controls still manage to be a little fiddly
