All Hail Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

TotalPlayStation.com
20 June 2011
  • Conclusion: Bottom line: If I can only have one SRPG for the rest of my life, it isn't even a contest. I could play Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together for the next 10 years and still be finding new stuff to try. One of the best remakes of all time.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

Hardcore Gamer
25 April 2011
  • Summary: It’s amazing how much is possible on four hours of sleep. Faking your way through the day and hoping nobody notices you yawning every few minutes isn’t so tough. It’s only after the third day that things get out of hand, at which point it’s time to give Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together a brief vacation. How hard can it be? After all, you can quit whenever you like, right?

Review: Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together - Ogre Battle Episode VII (Sony PSP)

Diehard GameFAN
23 April 2011
  • Summary: Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together is a textbook example of how not to remake a game. The game completely overhauls the character mechanics to the point where the game actively punishes you for gaining new character classes or monsters while also making the game laughably easy instead of the challenge you would feel proud for having beaten a decade ago. At the same time the game DOESN’T update the graphics as it looks on par with 2002′s Knight of Lodis .

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

Playstation Illustrated
21 April 2011
  • Excerpt: Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together is the kind of game one could lose hours upon hours with. I would know; about seven years ago, the Game Boy Advance installment ( Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis ) saved me from unspeakable boredom during a particularly long road trip. This PSP remake of the original Super Famicom release offers the same kind of experience: lengthy, challenging, rewarding, and insanely deep.

  • Excerpt: If you want to talk about getting the MotoGP thrill correct, then Monumental have achieved just that; providing some of the best intense, intuitive and enjoyable motorcycle simulators since the earliest attempts, many moons ago. MotoGP 10/11 has it all: The intense racing, knee to the floor cornering and the battering pack all playing elements in enhancing the gameplay.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

Square-Go
20 April 2011
  • Excerpt: It’s pretty amazing that today’s handhelds are so much more powerful than the last generation consoles. However, while plenty of games have made the transition from the plastic brick next to the VCR to the smaller one in your hand, not all go through the same process. There are straight ports where the bare minimum has been done to achieve compatibility; it’s a great way for a company to get more out of its back-catalogue but offers little more than an emulator would.

A Tactical Victory!

GIN
13 April 2011
  • Excerpt: Tactics Ogre: Let US Cling Together is a remake of a Playstation (yes fanboys I know that in Japan it was on the Super NES first) game by the same name. That being said I never got to play the original game, which is why I was so excited when I heard that a remake was coming out for the PSP. Since I've never played the original I'm sure you'll understand if I don't compare the differences or similarities between the two. And with that out of the way, on to the review!

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

The Gamers Temple
10 April 2011
  • Excerpt: When I reviewed Valkyria Chronicles II over this past summer, I mentioned how every time I finish an SRPG, I swear the genre off forever. I get burnt out on the micro management, the pace, all of it; and, like clockwork, a new one comes out and I end up diving in head first. The SquareEnix remake of Tactic Ogre: Let Us Cling Together for the PSP is the latest such SRPG to drag me in, and I can't help but think that if all SRPGs were this masterfully put together, I...

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together Review

VideoGamer.com
5 April 2011
  • Excerpt: Let us Cling Together? That's a really horrid caption, immediately conjuring up the kind of broken, half-formed Engrish sentiment that Square Enix should be doing its very best to try and get away from in 2011. It just doesn't sound... right. But the offending subtitle is actually yanked from an old Queen song, fact fans, and this PSP redux of the 1995 original is far more concerned with preserving the sanctity of a bona fide Japanese classic than attempting to ensnare a...
