Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron PSP Review

Console Obsession
30 May 2010
  • Excerpt: (I was going to preface this review with a few sober, state-of-the-nation paragraphs on the PSP and its relationship with other consoles. Phrases like ‘competitive, high-end alternative’, ‘marketing formula/development strategy’ and ‘chocolate teapot’ were due to make an appearance. Then I remembered I was reviewing a Star Wars game.) “Hm-hm-hm-hm. What is it, young padawan? Troubled are your thoughts.

Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron Review

VideoGamer.com
17 May 2008
  • Excerpt: Are we tired of Star Wars yet? I'm certainly getting there, ground down by what seems like an endless conveyor belt of games each retelling the greatest sci-fi story ever told with a unique twist. And here comes another one: the PSP exclusive Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron. Problem is, I'm finding it harder and harder to get up for games set in George Lucas' fantastical sci-fi universe.

Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron (PSP) (PSP)

Crispy Gamer
30 January 2008
  • Excerpt: Be it the DOOM -like Dark Forces or the EverQuest- ian Galaxies, a lot of Star Wars videogames have just been Force-fed versions of other games. The latest example is the Battlefront series, which adapted its motif (massively multiplayer online battles) and its moniker from EA's Battlefield. So it's rather ironic that in this, the latest Battlefront, the biggest change is the addition of a fleshed out single-player mode ...

Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron

Auracore MediaWorks
14 November 2007
  • Summary: A bit like giving Chewbacca a bikini wax: hairy at first, but once you're on a roll it's hard to stop.
  • Pros: Immersive and detailed graphics and sound; sixteen player multiplayer; learn to play instructional films are really helpful.
  • Cons: Ship control can be clunky and awkward; lack of communication in multiplayer makes it hard to co-ordinate with other players; may only have appeal for Star Wars fans.

Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron

Game Over Online
22 October 2007
  • Excerpt: I have to admit I was a little worried when LucasArts announced the next installment in the Star Wars Battlefront series was going to be PSP exclusive. After all, the only other Battlefront title to appear on the handheld, Star Wars Battlefront II, ported from the console, was a bit of a disappointment. There was no story-based campaign mode, no online multiplayer, and support for only 4 players via Ad-Hoc. Would Renegade Squadron make amends?
