Pros: This remake of the first star ocean is everything I had hoped it would be. They added a few characters, and made one character that was in the last game playable. The story line is engaging. And takes a few twist that make it interesting. The audio was remixed; so that it doesn't sound so 16bit-i...
Cons: 1) The world map sucks. 2) Fear was renamed Phia. 3) Starts out as a Star Trek knock-off 4) The voice acting is a little cheesy at times
Summary: Great game if you love the series, keeps true to the series, private actions, tons of skills, a ton of levels, and of course lots of extras for the endings... a game that actually deserves to be replayed over and over.
Pros: Get to know the characters from the original star ocean to learn a bit more about this universe. Great port, updated and very fun systems just like any other Star Ocean.
Cons: Voice acting is pretty consistently bad with this series, dont know what it is but it wouldn't be so bad if i had the option, like the other games, to turn the voice acting off.
Summary: I bought a PSP mostly because I was looking forward to playing Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core. I found that game to be a bit of a let down since it was way too linear, i.e. it didn't really play like an RPG (I found it to be as much an RPG as God of War).
Summary: Allow me to start by saying I've played all the Star Oceans and am a huge fan. I feel as though for once squareenix hasn't disappointed (not too pleased with most of the latest releases) I like the voices overall Pericci I find annoying.
Summary: I found it a very good game for the PSP. Not quite as easy to play as SO TTEOT on the PS2, but it has a lot of variety, some character building systems not present in SO Second Evolution, and (for a stat-building leveler like me) lots of replay value.
Summary: if your used to going into battle FF style, this is the game for you. for all those people who get tired of the first few encounters being so static, don't buy. Sure, this game does feature a more entuitive battle system than FF, but after leveling up after several encounters makes you tolerant of...
Summary: I had just bought myself a psp and this is the first game I decided to buy for it. I had heard how great this series was and decided to give it a go. I am very glad I did. This game was amazing.
A well done remastering of the first Star Ocean title.

Summary: Overall: 5 Graphics: 4 Controls: 4 Sound: 5 Extras: 1 If you played Star Ocean: The Second Story on the PlayStation, then you will feel right at home with this game. OVERALL: Star Ocean: First Departure is a remastered adaptation of the first Star Ocean game on the Super Famicom (the Japanese SNES)...
Summary: Finally available in America (greatest country since the start of time). You should get the whole franchise unlike Final Fantasy you can see where the characters are related and your ending will very based upon private actions. Very good games.
