Summary: I remember playing SSX Tricky as if it were yesterday. That was one heck of a game for the Xbox. I just fixed up a PSP that I bought for dirt cheap, and I've gone on a game buying binge. I was really excited to play some SSX again (Tricky was the last time I'd done so). Your character starts out with now skills, and is fairly slow compared to anyone you race against. I have yet to be able to beat one race, and yet I've been playing for well over 2 hours.
Excerpt: The SSX series has been good to us gamers. In the past we have had games like Coolboarders, 1080, Amped and Snowboard Kids that show how snowboarding can be made into good games. However none of these have really achieved what the SSX games do in terms of better gameplay, better graphics and just better things overall really. So here we are with SSX On Tour on the Sony PSP. Although this isn't the first time an SSX game has made an appearence on the handheld.
Pros: Great SSX gameplay, superb graphics, controls well and sports a great soundtrack
Cons: Recycled SSX 3 tracks, no custom soundtrack support or online multiplayer, limited character creation
Excerpt: SSX On Tour SSX On Tour is the fast, furious and addictive rival to Tony Hawks. But how does it fare on a portable console? Gameplay SSX plays like a fast, downhill Tony Hawks, with more emphasis on speed and style, rather than tricks and combos. However, the game play is smooth and fluid, with roller coaster levels and lots of them! Graphics and music Smooth and crisp graphic are great but let down by minor niggles like a fuzzy square around your fist when you punch.
Excerpt: SSX On Tour is a fun skiing and snowbarding game in which you have to race and compete against other snowboarders and skiers until you become a mountain legend (the best skiier and snowboarder in the game). Sadly however, if you are used to playing this on PS2 you will find that it is hard to control and the player is not fully customisable and the ski slopes are not as good.
