Summary: Socom brings the experience of movies such as Black Hawk Down and Tom Clancy's Clear And Present Danger novel to the portable gaming screen. It's not about going in with guns blazing, so action junkies need not apply. Your mission is to guide four Sea, Air, Land or Seal commandos - picked from various countries including the United States, Britain and France - indirectly, by using a cursor-like pointer to move them around the stages.
Summary: this game has gotten some pretty low reviews on various gaming sites, but being a SOCOM fan, i picked it up, and was pretty happily surprised. i've played other strategy games on the PSP, but this is the only one i've played where your actions unfold in real-time on the battlefield. the controls take a little learning, but anyone familiar with games like Full Spectrum Warrior won't be too lost here.
Summary: Not too bad a game. lots of stealth and creeping around. a bit difficult in certain areas and maybe not quite "up there" with the other socom games in the series. [just my general opinion] i also feel that the save points are too few and far between, It is still quite a good game though, it just needs more patience and getting used to than the other socom games.
Summary: with time and practice this game becomes quite easy though at first it can be aggravating, to succeed you must think tactically which is not helped by the terribly unclear maps, you must sneak around and learn to use your team (which can split into two sub units) to full effect, you'll often be outnumbered so you must think in terms of out flanking the enemy (i hope i'm using that word correctly) i.e have one team in front another positioned somewhere else so the enemy...
Summary: This game is really frustrating at times but also engrossing.. Ya just wanna keep at it know matter how annoying it becomes, because it has ya thinking about an alternative approach to each mission that might just be the answer to overcoming it and getting to the next stage. The most annoying feature is only being able to save your progress at certain checkpoints in each mission, this becomes infuriating when it may take you up to 20 mins of repeating the same manoeuvres...
Conclusion: If this game was for pc it would be much easier and maybe fun to play, but if you try to point and click and bring up menus with the psp, then you are in trouble. A.I. is disappointing, your teammates will let you down far to often. There are a lot of weapons to choose from, but you want see any practical difference. Graphics are ok but nothing special. The story is of course very boring, just the typical one you have heard over and over again.
Conclusion: This isn't the kind of game where you are the main character shooting stuff, you control other people and tell them what to do, i don't really call this fun when you can't aim up your sniper and shoot someone square in the head!
Conclusion: I cannot put this game down, there are so many different ways to play this game that it will have you playing for days and days. Graphics and sound are quality and if your like me and have a mrs telling you to turn it down its even better through earphones. Already completed it 3 times but with so many different weapons available its different every time. Must have for anyone.
