The game, which is the third game in the SOCOM series to be developed for a handheld, was released in North America on November 6, 2007.
Socom: U.S. Navy Seals Tactical Strike is based in Panama where players are placed in charge of four combatants. Commands can be issued to the entire team, an individual soldier, or all four members of the team at the same time. The game is focused on testing the players’ ability not only to execute maneuvers but also to keep tight control of a four-man squad. Players will guide their squad through nine non-linear missions, each with unique scenarios and mission objectives.
Players of Socom: U.S. Navy Seals Tactical Strike can choose to control different special forces groups from around the world. These include the Dutch KCT, the German KSK, the Australian SASR, the Italian 9th Parachute Assault Regiment, the Spanish UOE, the British Special Air Service, the South Korean 707th Special Mission Unit, the French GIGN, and the American Navy Seals. The American force is composed of characters returning from other games in the Socom series. These include Kahuna (from US Navy Seals), Bronco (from Fireteam Bravo 2), Wraith (also from Fireteam Bravo 2), and Aztec (from Combined Assault).

You may get frustrated by the slowdown, the occasional AI – or lack of – but in the end nobody will be able to deny that they didn’t get what they paid for with this game. Read more
In the end, there's a great idea at the heart of Tactical Strike. A considerable multiplayer mode and truly excellent musical score round off a nice package, but Tactical Strike isn't quite the amazing new direction for real time strategy it could have been. Still, if you aren't easily frustrated, have a fair degree of patience, and are a fan of games that require you to stretch your grey matter, this could be worth a good chunk of your time. Read more

Your team will comb ten large levels to rescue a missing American ambassador. Each mission is split into subgoals like planting bombs on enemy escape vehicles or disabling defense equipment, and are packed with ambush scenes and optional (sometimes hidden) missions like rescuing hostages. The levels are very linear, but there are usually three or more different routes to take through every hillside and building. A speedy player can probably tackle each in a half hour... Read more
I really want to give SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALS a great score and review, but the camera and A.I. really do hurt the overall game. Tactical Strike falls just short of doing the tactical thing right, the same way the original SOCOM games fell just short of doing the online shooter thing right. If you feel like you can overlook the flaws, give the game a try. Just keep in mind how much I wanted to like the game and my inability to do so. Read more
It's different than the thrid person shooting from SOCOM, it takes getting used to. The controls and commands add some learning curve. It's good considering that Slant Six probably didn't put much into developing it. I reccomend it unless you want Fireteam Bravo. Read more
