SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 2

Playstation Illustrated
2 March 2008
  • Excerpt: Last year’s SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALS: Fireteam Bravo didn’t have quite the impact as the console version, though it did manage to deliver an experience that was true to the console one and even introduced features like voice chat and PSP to PS2 connectivity. The sequel follows in the steps of the first and refines the experience even more. Fireteam Bravo 2 is a visual improvement over last year’s game.

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2

The Gamers Temple
17 October 2007
  • Excerpt: As I write this it is the end of November 2006 and to put it bluntly Sony has been having a very bad time as of late. Just to mention a few items of embarrassment for Sony; there was the exploding battery recall, the multiple PS3 delays, the backward compatibility problems with the PS2, the root-kit installation issue with some of their music CDs, and the, to put it mildly, botched launch of the PlayStation 3.

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2

TotalPlayStation.com
18 December 2006
  • Excerpt: this year actually outclasses its PS2 big brother. Blame it on the fact that the PS2 versions of the series have been online-focused for years now, and the whole idea behind the latest outing was to push people into picking up a new single-player game that was keenly linked to the events that happened in shoves the SEALs into fictitious near-democratic country of Adjikistan.

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2

Auracore MediaWorks
9 December 2006
  • Summary: Although very similar to the original, Fireteam Bravo 2 is a solid shooter for the PSP.
  • Pros: Fantastic presentation; sharp graphics; shooting sequences can be entertaining; crosstalk.
  • Cons: Tactical elements really suffer due to cheap enemy behavior and poor collision detection; overly generous lock on system takes most of the skill out of playing; linear level design negates a lot of the steal elements that made other SOCOM titles so entertaining.

Expert Review

PSX Extreme
23 November 2006
  • Excerpt: Socom has come a long way hasn't it? In such a short span the game has now seen six releases to date! Four on the PS2 and two on the PSP; the second being the one reviewed here. Socom seems to be the trendsetter for Sony when it comes down to online gaming. As many may recall the first Socom was one of the very first online games to appear on the PS2 with the launch of the Network Adapter (technically, Tony Hawk 3 was *the* first).

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2 Review

GameSpot
9 November 2006
  • Excerpt: SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo was a remarkable game for a number of reasons when it was released. The game delivered a great tactical shooting experience on the PlayStation Portable as well as excellent online play, two accomplishments that, unfortunately, have been elusive on Sony's handheld. On top of that, Fireteam Bravo introduced new features like real-time voice chat and PSP and PlayStation 2 connectivity.
  • Pros: Plenty of varied missions set in large, diverse maps, Simple, manageable controls, 16-player online play, The influence and equity system rewards skillful playing
  • Cons: Unstable frame rate, Level design can be frustrating

SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2

Project COE
7 November 2006
  • Conclusion: The SOCOM series has an incredible amount of replay to it thanks to its fantastic online mode and this title is no different. The single player campaign is lengthy and the online mode almost never gets old. There are a couple of issues with the controls this time around but they don’t bog down the overall experience. Players can also expect a portable friendly title as the game features countless checkpoints and areas to save.
