Rengoku II – Stairway to H.E.A.V.E.N

ME Gamers
9 May 2007
  • Excerpt: First Impressions My reaction is No, this isn’t some modern twist on Rapunzel, but at the end of this game you’ll be wishing someone came to rescue from this nightmare. Rengoku II – Stairway to H.E.A.V.E.N is a follow up from the Rengoku game that made its first appearance eon the PSP. The original game had horrible controls, lack of customization, and flat out boring gameplay.

Rengoku II: The Stairway to H.E.A.V.E.N.

Playstation Illustrated
12 December 2006
  • Excerpt: It is a wonder that Rengoku , one of the PSP’s weaker launch titles, is seeing a sequel while other franchises lie staplerless somewhere in the basement, fending off rats with a flashlight. But such is the way in the industry and we’re left with Rengoku II: Stairway to H.E.A.V.E.N. , a game that, much like its predecessor, offers an intriguing background and not much else. Rengoku II ’s entire presentation is underwhelming.

Rengoku II : The Stairway to H.E.A.V.E.N.

Portable Review
5 November 2006
  • Excerpt: When the original Rengoku released, many early PSP owners picked it up in hopes of a unique action game on their brand new system. The game had boring level design, boring character design, and a pretty bad sound track. Even with that, it had a great upgrade and customization system. Anyone who gave the game more than a few minutes would likely be caught up in the continual upgrading process that would prove to be the main attraction of Rengoku.

  • Excerpt: I'm not familiar with Rengoku II: Stairway to H.E.A.V.E.N. and I had never even heard of it before I received it as a review copy. Apparently it is a sequel to a poorly scored PlayStation Portable post-launch title named Rengoku: The Tower of Purgatory. Another Rengoku is under development for the PlayStation 3, though no release date has been confirmed yet. Rengoku II: Stairway to H.E.A.V.E.N.

  • Excerpt: Usually giant robot fighting is a great way to spend a weekend, hell, even a week. But sometimes it just makes us want to throw our PSP across the room and scream, "No, bad PSP!" Rengoku is somewhere in-between. Want to know what the relevance to the acronym H.E.A.V.E.N is? Or if giant robot action and 4-player wireless will save Rengoku II? Or will our Matt James be able to look at his PSP the same after having gone through not one, but two Rengokus?
  • Pros: ups: Customizable robots, with lots to work with, multiplayer off of a single UMD
  • Cons: downs: Touchy controls, boring level designs, shallow combat system

Rengoku II : The Stairway to H.E.A.V.E.N.

JeuxVideo.fr
21 November 2006
