Prinny: Can I Really be the hero? PSP Review

Console Obsession
29 May 2010
  • Excerpt: Disgaea spinoff, Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? is proof that you should never judge a book by its cover way of thought. Its penguin-like stars and cartoon exterior perhaps suggest that this is going to be great for kids, possessing a gentle difficulty curve for their still developing attention spans, but think again.

Then I found out it would be a PSP exclusive, something the flagging system really needed (though to be fair, the past week's new PSP game announcements have brought the system back from the brink...

Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?

Playstation Illustrated
28 June 2009
  • Excerpt: It's been a few weeks since previewing Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? and I can still say that the life of a Prinny sucks. As if it wasn't bad enough that you're an exploding, stuffed penguin with peg legs, you also have to work for one of the Underworld's most demanding citizens, Etna. But, their pain turns out to be your pleasure. Prinny really captures the look and sound of the Disgaea universe. Levels are a mix of 3D environments and 2D sprites.

Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? Review

VideoGamer.com
22 June 2009
  • Excerpt: When a game begins by giving you a thousand lives it sets alarm bells ringing. It's either some hilarious gamer joke or a sign of terrible things to come. With Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?, the bonkers but charming PSP side-scrolling platformer from Japanese developer Nippon Ichi Software, it's a case of the latter. Amazingly, a thousand lives doesn't feel like overkill. You die a hell of a lot in Prinny.
