  • Conclusion: At first, I did not think much of PQ2. This was partly due to not fully understanding what I was doing. (Yes, I skipped the tutorials.) Gradually, the game started to make sense and I was able to get the hang of it. At this point, I started to appreciate PQ2 more, albeit I still struggled on some of the puzzle types (e.g., the detectives never fail to catch me.) In the end, PQ2 proved to be challenging and fun.

PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient

Playstation Illustrated
11 March 2007
  • Excerpt: For the most part, the graphics in PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient are very simplistic. There are some special effects, but not much. The graphics are almost iconic, offering enough visible information to suggest something and no more. Weights that are used in some of the puzzles appear as grey blocks with different geometric shapes on their tops. If the shapes are the same, the weights are the same, if they look different, they weigh different.

  • Excerpt: An early release in the coming tide of brain training titles due to hit the US in the next year, PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient is a game that doubles as an intelligence test. Developed in collaboration with a real-life Professor of Psychology from Kyoto University, PQ ranks your smarts based on the "modular theory of intelligence." Is it as quirky and nerdy as it sounds? Or is it true that taking a test can never be a good time? Check the full review here.
  • Pros: ups: Cool concept, developed with help from a real-life science-guy.
  • Cons: downs: Little variety, repetitive crate action, tends to make you feel both frustrated and dumb.

PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient Review

GameSpot
11 January 2006
  • Summary: It's highly dubious as a measurable test of your logical mind, but PQ can still be a fun, challenging puzzle game.
  • Pros: Unique interface for a puzzle game, Provides a wide variety of mental challenges
  • Cons: Intelligence grading is useless, Third-person camera awkward at times, Forgettable techno soundtrack
