Platypus

Portable Review
17 August 2007
  • Excerpt: When I was first getting into video games, the term shooter meant something completely different than it does now. Because of this, I’ll forever consider games like Contra, Raiden, R-Type, and Metal Slug shooters.

Platypus

The Gamers Temple
11 May 2007
  • Excerpt: A platypus is an odd creature that is well known for having the look of being built from a collection of leftover parts from other animals. Most people have no idea what one sounds like, what it eats, or if it can do any tricks, its odd looks alone are enough to make it famous and a shoe-in for the animal hall of fame should some Midwestern city desperate for tourists ever decide to open one.

Playstation Illustrated
1 April 2007
  • Excerpt: How to describe the look of a clay-animated game? If you remember Skullmonkeys (one of my favorite PlayStation titles) or if you're a fan of Aardman animation, you'll know what to expect from Platypus . The idea of a clay-animated shooter is cool enough and the execution here is very strong. The story behind the development of this game is interesting, if it's true.

Platypus

Defunct Games
1 February 2007
  • Summary: Platypus is easily the best claymation-inspired 2D shooter on the PSP. Of course, it's also the ONLY claymation-inspired 2D shooter on the PSP. It's not a must-own game, but fans of the shooters will get a kick out of how Platypus re-imagines this once popular genre. Tweet This product was submitted by the publisher for review. As a rule, Defunct Games does not review games we spent money on. However, that does not always apply to classic/retro games.

Platypus review (PSP)

HonestGamers
5 January 2007
  • Excerpt: Each world is divided into several stages. These typically are somewhere close to the length of a stage in any other shooter you might chare to mention, and there are typically around six of them strung one right after the next with only a status update screen to divide them. The background doesn’t change significantly the whole time you’re playing through a given world.

  • Excerpt: There's not much to a shoot-em-up. Get a peppy little fighter, equip it with a handful of powerful weapons and send it out against a ridiculous number of enemies firing off an impossible number of shots, give the player a handful of continues so they can actually it make it a little way through the game and bam, shooter.

Platypus

Fueps
25 May 2008
