Summary: lets be honest yes outrun is fun in the large version you sit in at an arcade but the psp is capable of so much more, if you are looking for a true racing game with great graphics this is not it you are much better off with ridge racer for the psp, out run is fun for a few minutes but if you are over the age of 8 save your money the graphics just for the movies alone are better with syphon filter black mirror,or james bond russia with love, i know these games are...
Summary: I'd place this game on a par with Ridge Racer. The graphics are appealing, but frankly the PSP can do better - and has on games such as Burnout or Wipeout. The music is a mixed bag. A few of the driving tunes are rocking, but some are downright annoying. The steering controls are a bit sloppy, but you can make do. Overall Outrun is good, but not great. If you just want some simple minded arcade style racing, Outrun will do the trick.
Excerpt: The reason as to why I bought my PSP was simple; I wanted to play a game that I was simply addicted to when I used to go to the arcades when I was on a family holiday at the seaside. The game was Out Run and was originally released back in 1986, the whole setup was a step forward in gaming as this was one of the first games that you actually sat inside with the whole cabinet moving as you played and drove the Ferrari Testarossa from the Start line.
Pros: Available on the PSP
Cons: The music - you'll be humming this for days !
Excerpt: Back in the mists of time, around 1987, I spent a lot of my school holidays in Benidorm, Spain. It didn't matter if it was winter, spring or summer. If I had a school holiday then I was hauled of to Benidorm. It effectively meant that it had become a second home to me, and with that it meant that boredom would usually set in (although admittedly the weather was nicer). Knowing the place like the back of my hand, meant that I was more or less let loose.
Pros: Lots of cars, good graphics, a variation on a theme, serious nostalgia value
Cons: Can be too hard in places, cost of new cars .
Summary: I'd place this game on a par with "Ridge Racer". The graphics are appealing, but frankly, the PSP can do better - and does with games such as 'Burnout' or 'WipeOut'. Summary: I loved the ridge racer games and was really good at drifting this is different and is really difficult to get to grips with. When you drift you lose speed and they zoom past you its really annoying ive been playing this in total for about 3 hours and havent got into it properly.I dont feel like im in control of the car i feel like im just waiting to crash and i was really good at ridge racer. If you like pick up and play games youll get annoyed very quickly with this its...
Excerpt: Having received Outrun: Coast to Coast as a gift for my PSP, I decided to give it a try. Immediately, the game tries to appeal to the fans of the original arcade version, which was a huge monster with racing pedals and a steering wheel - the idea is basically the same: get into a Ferrari (with your girlfriend) and try to get to the finish line before the clock runs out.
Pros: an old school game revitalised
Cons: unlocked cars and accesories take too many miles to unlock
Excerpt: This is my favorite game on the PSP to date. It has no real depth and has limited appeal if you want to play the game for long periods at a time but as a quick pick me up when you have a few minutes to spare I think this game is outstanding. I remember back in 1986 when a friend of mine had a computer magazine with screenshots of the original Outrun. I remember drooling over the graphics and dreaming about having the coin op at home. How things have changed in 20 years.
Excerpt: If you are old enough you will remember the old arcade versions of the original Outrun that were an actual car on hydraulics with a steering wheel - if you loved that then the Outrun 2006: Coast to Coast on the Sony PSP helps recreate that magic. Graphics - super graphics on this game. Not as polished as ridge racer, but these are top notch with only slight slowdown if the screen is really busy.
Pros: Good Graphics, Great Gameplay, On - line Multiplayer
