  • Excerpt: When I realized that trading card games were becoming the spiritual successor to D&D my heart wept a little bit. Yeah nerds were still convening across basement tabletops and reducing hit points but the story telling and imagination of a dedicated dungeon master or an inventive party leader were falling by the wayside. The soul of the exercise was being replaced by the stark commercialism of card collecting. Collecting cards! That was for jocks and their all-star heroes.
