WorthPlaying
14 April 2009
  • Summary: MLB 09 The Show continues to set itself apart from the other MLB games on the market with its attention to detail and unparalleled gameplay. Looking to build on that reputation, the game has added several new features and subtleties that play a huge role in bringing the baseball experience to life.

MLB 09 The Show

Playstation Illustrated
21 March 2009
  • Excerpt: Just in time for Spring Training, a new installment of the veteran franchise arrives for PSP. MLB 09 The Show follows a strong run of three years, which is an eternity in gaming. The difference this year that is immediately apparent is that more work seems to have gone into gameplay and mechanics than graphics. MLB 09 looks like last year's game, and if you aren't moving forward in this industry, you are definitely losing ground.

  • Excerpt: Yes, it is that time of year when all my fellow Canadian friends are far too immersed in the NHL season to even give a hoot about Spring Training and the upcoming Major League Baseball season. I on the other hand really love this time of year. There is nothing like purchasing all my fantasy baseball magazines, catching up on all the off season moves, following Spring Training box scores, and counting the days until opening day.

  • Excerpt: What happens when you condense "the most realistic baseball game" onto the PSP? It is like putting a Hemi engine in a Mini Cooper: While all the bells and whistles are great on the PS3, some of them do not translate to the small screen. Still, MLB 09: The Show on the PSP is worth checking out under the right circumstances.
  • Pros: The best baseball game on PSP., TrrS is great if you've never seen it before., Tons of online features.
  • Cons: No PS3 connectivity., Loading is still bad., Extremely similar to the past few years.

  • Excerpt: MLB 09: The Show for PlayStation Portable (PSP) features a few minor tweaks to last year's iteration and, perhaps surprisingly, only has a few minor differences from this year's PlayStation3 version of the same name.
