The Laser

  • Summary: Taking the action back to the diamond, MLB 06 - The Show for PSP is an excellent baseball simulation that captures the look and feel of the sport. Featuring an array of single player modes and extensive online support, MLB 06 allows you to either play a quick game or go deep in career mode as you build up a young player from the minors to the big leagues.

  • Conclusion: was the career mode. I found it a lot of fun to make a player in my image, run him through spring training, and try to land myself a solid contract with the Seattle Mariners and later land a 20 million dollar contract with the Oakland A's. Overall the game play was generally fun (sometimes frustrating), but all in all good times.

  • Excerpt: Developer – SCE San Diego Studios Publisher - SCEA Features 1-2 Players Memory Stick Duo – 240KB Wi-Fi Compatible (Ad Hoc/Infrastructure) Having already reviewed the PS2 version of MLB '06 I was very interested to see what kind of transition the game made when ‘shrunk' down to fit on the PSP's UMD. Last years version was a pretty darn good game and I really wondered if Sony could improve on that effort to make an even better portable baseball game then before.

  • Excerpt: Baseball season is here again and Sony has given us a way to take our big league fix on-the-go with MLB '06: The Show for the PlayStation Portable. This latest installment is a realistic and slickly-produced baseball sim that any fan will like, and a major improvement over last year's game, even if it's still missing some of the features that its PlayStation 2 counterpart has.

Game Over Online

  • Excerpt: While many of the PSP’s initial sports offerings were shadows of their PS2 selves, MLB managed to capture the look and feel of its console counterpart quite well. What it lacked was game modes. There was no create-a-character Career Mode and no Franchise mode. In other words, it had no long-term appeal.
