If the massive financial disaster of the Miami Vice film had been foreseen by Vivendi, we doubt they would have been eager to publish a game to tie in with the big screen release. It’s a crying shame though, as the failure of the film doesn’t exactly inspire people to try out what is actually a very decent gaming adaptation. Read more

Tell me about a film that has a silver Ferrari and tons of beautiful women in it. Tell me about the eighties and Don Johnson. Tell me about the vice division of the Miami Police Department. I'll tell you that we have an OK game, but there's one thing that bothers me: you can't shoot while running. Aside from that, there are few bugs and repetitive sound issues that leave a sour taste, but that doesn't take the cool feeling of detective action away. Read more

    • Good action game feeling, Well-designed characters
    • Annoying repetitive lines from the enemies, You can't shoot while running, The game is too short, it takes 6 hours to complete it

There are far worse action games available for the PSP, but that doesn't automatically make this one great; however, it is a step above the average third-person shooter available for the PSP. Read more

    • Sleek graphics; great frame rate; Drug Wars -inspired section is somewhat fun.
    • Too many influences, not enough solid implementation of them; multiplayer doesn't add much.

Miami Vice: The Game, an introduction. Miami Vice was a hit TV show back in the 1980's that millions of viewers tuned in to watch every week. I have to say though that I wasn't one of them. For a variety of reasons the TV show just didn't appeal to me although in truth many of my friends watched the show. Read more

Miami Vice: The Game wouldn’t be worthy of the Miami Vice moniker if it didn’t look good. While the PSP has certainly seen better visuals, a stylish approach makes up for it. Since the game is based on the movie, the models are designed to look more like Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx rather than Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas. Read more

Miami Vice: The Game was only 5 hours long, which normally would be a bad point, but sadly, is the best selling point this game has to offer. I’d normally recommend this to only fans of the TV series, but I fear that they would be more disappointed than I was. Read more

It's certainly not a perfect game, and barely uses the license at all (which is probably a good thing), but for a portable shooter, something the PSP sorely needs, it works beautifully. If only those rough spots weren't so rough. Read more

Who could forget the popular television series starring Don Johnson from the 1980s that put Miami firmly on the map again, and made pastel colours a fashion must. A big money remake was always on the cards, especially so after the recent success of Charlie's Angels and Starsky and Hutch. Unfortunately, the game in question is not based on the memorable television program, but the 2006 movie of the same name starring Colin Farrel and Jamie Foxx. Read more

Miami Vice is the video game tie in of the recent "blockbuster" COUGHS! movie of the same name. This all action game allows you to be either Crockett or Tubbs and fight your way through a 32 day mission to put an end to drug and arms dealing in Miami. State of the art graphics, and a revolutionary design format make this the game of the year! Yeah right, that's what they want you to believe. Read more

Miami Vice: The Game

Miami Vice: The Game is a third-person shooter video game that is indirectly based on the movie of the same name. It was developed by South East England’s Rebellion Developments for the Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) and was published by California’s Sierra Entertainment. The game was released in North America on July 18, 2006.

Miami Vice: The Game takes place before the events of the film. Players can choose to take on the role of either Crockett or Tubbs as they are tasked to take down a South American drug lord known only as Sacranegra.

To fulfill their mission, players are equipped with firearms that are classified into three general categories which include pistols, shotguns, and machine guns. Each weapon can be upgraded with larger magazines, improved accuracy, and higher power.

Throughout most of the game, players engage in combat. In each level, certain enemies must be killed in order for players to advance to the next. Apart from shoot-outs, players can engage in a variety of activities including Drug Trading and Hacking. With Drug Trading, players can buy and sell drugs for profit. Drugs can also be traded to informants for information. Hacking, on the other hand, allows users to unlock extra content such as firearm upgrades and drug dealers’ locations. This activity involves recovering FlashRams from each level. Each time the undercover agent goes back to the police station with a FlashRam, the player can choose to complete an arcade-like game that contains three levels. When the FlashRam challenge is completed, it is considered hacked and the extra content unlocks.
