Excerpt: The American Heritage Dictionary defines "anthology" as: A collection of literary pieces, such as poems, short stories, or plays A miscellany, assortment, or catalog, as of complaints, comments, or ideas Metal Slug Anthology fits nicely into both definitions of the word since it compiles 7 chapters of the classic side-scrolling shooter. The first definition is somehow fitting because there are well developed stories behind at least 5-6 of the games.
Excerpt: It seems like yesterday, when in late 90s I was simply passionate about Metal Slug 1, 2 and X coin-up games. The amount of money I spent of course became less and less everyday as I was about to become quite an expert! Unfortunately things change, so suddenly I grew up, there were no coin-ups for a while and the only place where I could find some Metal Slug to play was old friend MAME the emulator!
Pros: Great cartoonish and bloody visuals, simple and enjoyable gameplay, fantastic multiplayer mode
Cons: Sound SFX not that great, replayability lost in single player mode
Conclusion: Fantastic fun converted perfectly to Sony’s handheld. All the Metal Slug you could ever want. It should keep you going for some time, and with such variation, it has to sit comfortably amongst the best shooters ever.
Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Even at full price this compendium would be very much worth it, but at a budget price it's more or less essential. Anyone who plays is guaranteed fun, and whilst the games won't last forever, they are certainly infinitely replayable for short bursts of mega-ultra-fun. Highly, highly recommended.
Excerpt: 7 Fun Games In 1! Well metal slug has been around since 1996, but this game gave me the impression that it was a lot older. Still, old doesn’t necessarily mean bad, and I am big fan of older games. This review is for the Anthology, which contains the first 7 metal slug games (metal slug 1-6 and metal slug X). The style of this game is a very basic run and gun game, where you can choose from various characters and run across the screen shooting enemy as they appear.
Pros: classic gaming style,
Cons: arcade style may not be everyones cup of tea,
