It is an expansion to Portable Ops and features new characters, new game-play, new modes and missions developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). In this portable multiplayer, players will enjoy a variety of new environment maps such as an updated version of the REX Hangar area of the original Metal Gear Solid plus recruit a crew of battle-hardened warriors for combat against real opponents in online arenas. It also has multi-player mode that can be used via the PSP system’s wireless capabilities.
The Metal Gear Solid : Portable Ops Plus provides both ad hoc and infrastructure play in two different flavours, one from the original game and one for the expansion pack, which lets player access a number of new maps as well as some new online features. A few of these are relatively minor, such as new saluting animations and the ability to take snapshots of in-game matches. Visually, Portable Ops Plus is identical to Portable Ops, since it uses the same Subsistence engine meaning that it provides a lot of large, detailed characters, console identical animations and other features. Other features are much more significant, such as the inclusion of a beginner lobby for newcomers to the franchise, along with a brand new chat room. It also comes with a new single player mode, "Infinity Mission", in which players must advance from start to finish through increasingly difficult stages, gathering weapons and recruiting high-level comrades to build up their units. It also comes with additional multi-player mode (cater for 1 to 6 number of players) where players can use personalized decks to do battle via the PSP system’s wireless capabilities or use the game mode called Shooting Range. This mode forces player to shoot as many targets as possible before time runs out, turning those targets into your team’s colour in the process. It is also equipped with a Tutorial Mode and improved in-game support to familiarize novice and players of all skill levels with the strategic game-play. Besides that, the Training Mode provides player to practice and sharpen their game controls to challenge experienced tactical fighters. It can also upload saved data from the previous version of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops to create instant squads or recruit brand new soldiers from the Metal Gear Solid universe, including Raiden and Snake from MGS4, to form a unique fighting crew. It is also fitted with Wi-Fi connectivity, rated as T for mild suggestive themes and violence by ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board). The Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops Plus developer is Kojima Productions, released on 13th November, 2007, it falls under the genre category of Online Action, Shooter and Strategy plus it has a product dimension weights of 4.8 ounces (136grams).
See lessMetal Gear Solid: Portable Ops took the quintessential Metal Gear console experience and made it, well... portable. Portable Ops Plus takes that experience and builds on it. Okay, a quick refresher: the year is 1970 and follows the dubiously-named Naked Snake as he sets up Foxhound. His aim... To take down the treacherous Fox unit which has started a nasty revolt in South America. Players will learn more about characters such as Para-Medic, Major Zero and Sigint, as well... Read more
B ack in 2007, Kojima and Konami released the original MGS: Portable Ops , an action orientated Metal Gear title which was an instant PSP classic. The original title was as innovative as it was action-packed, even allowing players to go Wi-Fi signal hunting to recruit new soldiers for their army. A year on, the standalone expansion pack is hitting the shelves. With such an outstanding original, we ask the question: Was there really any point? Read more
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus isn’t the sequel that many are waiting for, although it should satisfy the appetite of those who really enjoyed the multiplayer in the original game. Those who prefer single player should approach Plus with caution, but the reasonable price point in no way suggests that the game is going to be loaded with content. Read more
I was a big fan of the original release, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops . It was a bit of redemption after what seemed like a trend in the wrong direction with the MGS games on the big consoles. I mean, the original game was like my church for about a month. The graphics now look pretty primitive compared to what we can hold in our hands with the PSP. The gameplay in many ways hasn't changed, but that in itself isn't a bad thing. The later games on more advanced consoles... Read more
I can't wait for Metal Gear Solid 4. I have been saying this for a long time, and every time I hear about a delay and whatever reason they give for it not coming out for a long time, I am a little saddened. I can admit it and not think low of myself. I also happen to be very meticulous when it comes to stealth action games. Granted, Metal Gear may not be the "be all, end all" stealth games series for everyone, nevertheless, to me it is the one that I measure all others... Read more
