Not what I expected

HeroG , GameStop
19 June 2011
  • Summary: I bought this game expecting an awesome metal gear game, but instead I found a weird card strategy game. I played for five minutes and gave up on it. Don't buy this game unless you really like metal gear and don't care about the game type. I should of read the back of the box. Ypu get what you pay for.

  • Summary: This one was a mistake, as I didn't know it was the Japanese version of the game. All in all, a Waste of Money!

Shambolic

The Soulfull Dude "Soulfull Dude", amazon.co.uk
6 August 2007
  • Summary: The First thing you need to know about this game is that it is not like the original, its a card based game, this really takes from the original. it was the first game i got when i got the psp and it almost mabe me sell it as i thought all first person shooters and games like this just wont work on the psp because it only has one analogue. shame all around really.

Horrendous !

Mr. R. A. Williams "Rob W", amazon.co.uk
9 July 2006
  • Summary: What a shame - the card idea just doesn't work - it slows dont the game beyond belief and wrecks the game play that the original had. Don't buy this at all.

  • Excerpt: This is not my sort of game this is definately a thinkers game and a stategist if you are looking for something along the ps2 series of metal gear this is loosly based on it although the gameplay is more inerpt to card tactical games like kingdom of hearts and yugi o the game is addicitve though not what i wanted it to be but will defintley appeal to strategy card gamers

Bored to death...

Whodunit, amazon.co.uk
20 April 2006
  • Summary: If you liked the original Solid Metal Gear on the PS1 then DO NOT BUY this game if you are expecting the same thing. The game is a turn based RPG which is extremely slow and dull. I was expecting something in the same vein as Diablo, Myth or the original, but this is more like a game of electronic chess updated (that may appeal to some!).

What a load of rubbish

Samuelgjohnson "m3r0v1n916n", amazon.co.uk
9 January 2006
  • Summary: Metal Gear rocked, i loved the original ones with the stealth and espionage aspects but what on earth have they done to this one? I have never played card games (Yugi oh, Pokemon etc it just doesnt appeal - its a kids games isnt it?) and to find that they have turned what in my mind is a pretty classic game into some form of cardcapture BS is a bit of a shame, because it totally ruins the whole thing.

Absolutely Crap

"towey2", amazon.co.uk
3 September 2005
  • Summary: Oh God, words cannot describe how bad this game is.. i don't know why the developers went for a card based idea, but to me it does not work well at all and is not at all suitable for the portable format.. The fact that you don't have any freedom of movement like you do in the regular series is just annoying.. This game is just boring, do not buy this game.. Instead invest your money in something like Wipeout or Colin Mcrae.

A Catastrophe. Could this be the game that Kills the PSP?

jeffjaffacake, amazon.co.uk
2 September 2005
  • Summary: if you are a fan of MGS on the playstation like I am you will be AMAZED at how disapointing this game is. Frustratingly it looks and feels just like the MGS games you know and love but with one cripplingly frustrating catch. You can't move around the screen. Honestly. You can't. The game play is set out like a deck of cards. So in order to move forward one step you must: *Shuffle through the deck of cards from a card menu.
