Summary: This game had so much potential. However, if you like a serious grind and a difficult journey, then this is your game. This game could have been much better, but it felt like they had to make a game so difficult, that it would want you to play co-op. I don't think the PSP has a big co-op following here in the U.S. so this would not be a great solo game. Your weapons do not deal any amount of damage comparable to what the enemies do to you.
Summary: Prelude: Hey. I've seen a lot of people calling ANY game out there a Monster Hunter clone, and to be frank, it's not accurate. This game has been likened to a "MH Clone", but I'm here to tell you that isn't necessarily true, and in the case of Lord of Arcana, that's actually a bad thing. STORY: 1/5 There is none, or very little at all.
Excerpt: "...much of a storyline to Lord of Arcana. You choose a name and design what your character will look like, then, they’ll wake up in a strange town where two demon-esque creatures will task you with capturing the Arcana, who are God like creatures whose appearance resembles mythological beings; by defeating them you will gain control over them and their realms. That’s it really, you go around capturing the Arcana and killing any beast that stands in your ...
Pros: Monster and equipment designs, addictive, fast paced, enjoyed the item creating element .
Cons: Difficult, not for players new to this genre, unable to pause game play .
Summary: The game itself is fairly good, if your going to purchase it then special offer is the best time. The biggest problem/issue (in my view - hence three stars) - you can't actually "pause" the game, whether it is during battle scenes or casual around the local/friendly area. So to puase you have to put the PSP on standby; so if you need to answer a telephone it soon becomes an annoying issue.
Conclusion: Been playing this game for 10 hours now and its starting to get annoying, i like the idea and the battle system but 10 hours and ive hardly got anywhere and only unlocked a few weapons, some of the battles are unnecessarly long, just repeated the same thing over and over for around 20 minutes on one boss! Think this game could have been amazing if they had just made it alittle easier rather than drawing out the missions with nearly impossible battles!
Summary: This is a bit of a mixed bag, really. It's a blatant rip-off of Monster Hunter, yet there's nothing in this package that isn't done far better in MH. The central hub isn't as well-realised, the numbered areas in each map are characterless, the graphics are dull and muddy (the animation is okay, but even here MH comes out top because the animation in MH is stellar). The crafting system isn't as detailed.
