The game story of Key of Heaven starts three hundred years ago, which the fantasy world is divided into 9 continents spread across a vast ocean which consists of Ohka, which is the center of the world and a wondrous continent rich in Oriental mysticism. Ohka was ruled by five Bumon, or houses of martial arts, each boasting their own unique fighting style. Then Sema, a continent situated in the west, is invading a force which is led by the Demonic General, to conquer Ohka. The game allows player to create own martial style enabling player to combine more than 150 skills with various combinations. Besides that, it is easy to be controlled with simple one-button operation including allows player to unleash deadly sword action. Furthermore, player can download new shields, skills, and a sword via Infrastructure Mode to develop swordmanship skills. With Ad-Hoc Mode, player enables to show-off and exchange skills via wireless connectivity. Plus, player can expand arsenal of moves by finding and collecting various skills as player advanced through the game.
