  • Summary: The Good: Super addictive, excellent court play, stat building and item collecting is fun, cute visuals The Bad: No special powers, a little too casual, distracting adventure mode, grating music I always hate to talk about casual gamers since they almost ruin everything for hardcore gamers (Kinect and Wii) and everybody always forgets about us hardcore guys, but Sony always knows how to balance it just right (the Move is a perfect example) to please both sides (this is...

Inspired portable VG tennis

Phantasmagoria, Amazon
16 September 2010
  • Summary: Fondly remembering Mario Tennis on the GB before all the power-ups ruined the series, I took a chance on Hot Shots Tennis:GET A GRIP. The gamble paid off as I have not put this down for days. The controls are rock solid and built into an addictive RPG style game a la Pokemon. Almost everything about HS:GOLF titles is present from over the top characters to the loyalty system, also intact are responsive and addictive controls.

The Joy of Tennis

Colin Kennedy, Amazon
5 February 2011

As the demo didn't contain any story elements, the fondness of my attraction was drawn in by the core gameplay mechanics. And this is where the game truly shines. The game of tennis played here is easy-to-pick-up, mechanically sound, rewarding, and loads of fun.
