Excerpt: When I was given the chance to review Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip I jumped at it. I’m a big fan of the Hot Shots Golf games (especially on handhelds where I think you really get full value in terms of how well they play and their depth) and my PSP has been collecting a little too much dust lately. I’m happy to say the Hot Shots formula translates extremely well to the sport of tennis and the PSP. Let’s get down to the details shall we?
Excerpt: For those new to the Hot Shots series, it takes normal sports like golf and, in this case, tennis, and infuses them with a playful dose of character and deceptive simplicity. Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip is developer Clap Hanz' second attempt at bringing the series' style to tennis. The last attempt was a marginal success; it got the playstyle down, but ignored everything else. Get a Grip manages to fix most of these problems.
Conclusion: Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip is an impressive game; there’s no doubt about it. The title packs the lighthearted gameplay we know and love with tried and true time sinks such as collectables, unlockable characters, personal ranks and more. I don’t think it has the addictive hook of previous Hot Shots games, but it’s still an awesome title in its own right.
