What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord?!

Playstation Illustrated
16 September 2009
  • Excerpt: What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord?! comes with a quirky, throwback look to go along with its equally quirky gameplay and title. The entire game has a charming, 80's arcade look that won't win over graphics whores, but completely works for the gameplay. In a sense, What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord?! is similar to rhythm games. The gameplay requires most of your attention, so glitzy visuals provide more of a distraction than anything else.

A Lesson in Patience

  • Conclusion: It definitely took a while, but once I understood what Badman was trying to do, I was sold. That doesn't mean everyone will get it or even like what the game is doing when they do, but for me it really was something different and unique.

Holy Invasion Of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do To Deserve This?

AV Club
27 July 2009
  • Excerpt: Holy Invasion Of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do To Deserve This? is a cheeky game rife with pop-culture mockery. Given the ludicrous title, that’s probably no shock. The surprise is how much Badman relies on its goofy humor, at the expense of telling players what the heck it’s about. Even in tutorial stages, Badman reveals only tiny bits of its core, diverting the conversation with wink-nudge wisecracks that start to feel like a defense mechanism.

Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman! What Did I Do to Deserve This?

Project COE
16 July 2009
  • Conclusion: Units are created by destroying blocks, which are essential to everything in the game. Carve out a pathway through them to not only place the leader, but determine your monsters' movement. Narrow passages limit that to back and forth, whereas lots of branching tunnels allow for spreading. Monster movement also governs how nutrients and mana are shared with other blocks. Monsters can either absorb block energy, or store it.

Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I do to Deserve This? Review

AusGamers
2 December 2009
  • Conclusion: It was launched weeks ago, but as of this writing this game has not been picked up by any of the major retailers in Australia. It's easy to see why. Not because Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What did I do to deserve this? is a bad game, but because it's different. Playing it for the first time is an alienating experience, and a typical person's lifetime of accumulated gaming know-how will prove useless in solving its problems.
  • Pros: Outlandish retro-style graphics and sound, Sick sense of humour, A unique take on strategy
  • Cons: It's hard ― really hard, Limited retail release; only small, independent stores are selling it
