Guilty Gear Judgment

Portable Review
18 October 2006
  • Excerpt: It’s been quite a long time since I’ve actually enjoyed a true side-scrolling beat ‘em up. The last game I enjoyed in this genre was Gekido Advance and Streets of Rage before that. One thing I’ve always wanted to see in the genre is actual move depth – similar to what you would find in a 2D fighter. Judgment is that very marriage of the two genres that I’ve longed to play.

Guilty Gear Judgment Review

GameSpot

  • Excerpt: Guilty Gear follows in the footsteps of Darkstalkers, Street Fighter Alpha, and Tekken as the latest fighting game series to successfully touch down on the PSP, in spite of the system's portable form factor. Confusingly, this package includes two different games, but shares its name with one of them in particular.
  • Pros: Two different games in one, Slick 2D graphics and driving guitar-rock soundtrack, The beat-'em-up game is great for quick sessions
  • Cons: The fighting game is missing some key single-player modes, Some moves and combos inordinately difficult to pull off because of PSP controls, The beat-'em-up game is mindlessly repetitive after a while

Guilty Gears Judgment

The Armchair Empire
15 September 2005
  • Conclusion: There will be a variety of game modes to choose from in this portable title, such as story mode, versus, survival, boost mode (a mini side-scrolling brawler), as well as #Reload (a mode that taps into the arcade versions of Guilty Gears). Versus, boost, and #Reload modes will actually take advantage of the PSP’s wireless capabilities, ensuring that there’s a decent amount of multiplayer options in Guilty Gears Judgment .

Guilty pleasure?

Pocket Gamer
4 September 2007
  • Conclusion: Two different and interesting games for the price of one but whether you'll find the mechanics compelling enough to play all the way through will very much depend on your love of an old, simple and now unfashionable genre

  • Cons: LOL C TRO BO MDR §§, Guilty Gear, stout
